Kasugai - Lychee Candy 4.05 oz.

I’ve loved Kasugai gummies since my high school years and bought these assuming they were gummies cuz the of brand name- but they are actually hard candies! Kasugai’s candies are always bursting with flavor and these hard candies are no exception. They make you want to savor them for as long as possible- like every molecule of these tiny treats is jam packed with the tangy sweetness of lychees. Being a hard candy makes it a lot easier to properly savor the delicious flavor as well, since you can just let them melt in your mouth while enjoying them. I highly recommend giving them a try if you like strong fruit flavors.

I've been looking for new and interesting candy to try. The reviewer who said that this tastes like strawberry is right; it's just perhaps a tiny bit more sour. That said, the candies are good. They're individually wrapped in clear plastic with printed white text. You get about 24 of them in a bag. The only reason I'm not giving this five stars is because of how similar it is to strawberry candy. Aside from curiosity and the luxury of imported candies, you may as well just get domestic strawberry candy instead. Update: I've changed this review to five stars, and here's why: I had given out some candies to people to try, but I didn't really stick around while they ate them, OR I was eating the candy myself, and I missed out on the most unusual, unique, and wonderful thing about this candy. This candy makes you smell wonderful. You can't smell it if you eat it, though. The smell is strong but incredibly pleasant. It's also hard for people to pin down-- fruity, sugary perfume, or fruity, sugary food? Now my coworkers have a running joke that whenever someone eats a lychee candy, they're obligated to breathe on everyone else. Not that they need to-- since one or two people eating this candy will fill a whole room with "W, what smells wonderful?! What is that??" So if you want to attract people, literally, eat this candy. It's become my favorite and signature sweet, and everyone wants one as soon as they know I've gotten a package in. Update (Aug 2014): My local Asian imports store had a new item I hadn't seen before. Turns out DaKeyi, a chinese company, also makes lychee-flavored candy. In contrast, the bags are much cheaper, and contain a much larger amount of somewhat smaller candies. That said, I'd stick with Kasugai after tasting the two. If you prefer a milder lychee, you might prefer DaKeyi, but I like a strong lychee taste (and maybe more importantly, a very strong lychee smell). The DaKeyi brand isn't as flavorful or fragrant. If you want to share large amounts of lychee candy, that might be a good reason to try the DaKeyi kind (especially if you are hiding the Kasugai kind to keep for yourself).

I adore this candy! So rich, fragrant and delicious! Wish the cost would come down some!

Kasugai Lychee Candy is amazing! The flavor is sweet, juicy, and true to real lychee unlike other candies that taste artificial. Each piece is hard and flavorful, making it perfect for snacking anytime. A small bag goes a long way, and it’s become one of my favorite treats. Highly recommend for anyone who loves exotic fruit flavors!

Amazing lychee flavor, poor value for the money.

Absolutely delicious and it tastes accurate to the actual fruit. Pricing is great! Will order again.

Pros: * Very accurate lychee flavor * Unique, pleasant, foreign flavor * Good balance between sweet and tart Cons: * Contains artificial Color that is very likely to be toxic Note: * Minus 2 stars for artificial color, otherwise would rate as 5 stars * Not as sweet as many American hard candies, like Jolly Rancher. Sweetness is is a little more mild.

I am addicted to these. I love the flavor of lychee, so these are perfect to keep in my purse, the car and at home.
