AblePlanet NC180BMM Black Noise Canceling Headphones

Affordable NC pair when traveling, I was traveling every other week for last 10 months with this and still working perfectly. This is not comparable to the Bose QC but for the price range it is more then worth the money you spend..... definitely better then cheep Sony ones.it does help to reduce the Cabin Noise considerably and most of the voices. you can enjoy the music & movies with out any trouble. It does fold in to really compact and have soft carry pouch. ( I like if it had a hard case)If your looking affordable NC headphone for Air Travel try this out, you might like it and keep using like me...

I know people have been complaining about the integrity of the folding piece in the center, but I've been using them for about a month (8-10 hours a day while I write code) and have not had a problem with them, but I only fold and unfold them once a day to put them in my desk for the night.I have a rather large head so they are a bit snug, but should fit average sized heads just fine. However, despite being tight they are comfortable.The sound quality is great for the price. They are certainly not for audio snobs, but should perform great for average listeners. The sound range is excellent and plays high treble and low bass without a problem.My only complaint is that when using the noise cancellation feature the volume increases substantially and an annoying static is generated that is almost worse then background noise. I'm not sure that they even cancel out much noise because when I restore the volume to my normal listening level the sound made when opening a can of soda is as audible as it is when the noise cancellation is turned off.

Previously these were my set of choice. The volume control on the cord was really nice. However, these were only a few months old when they broke. Able Planet offered me a deal. Send them back at my expense, so they could take up to 25 days to see if it was my fault that a tab that held the ear cover in place, that I would have had no access to broke. Since I am a gamer living in a very noisy home, I declined. I needed help now, and though this was my 3rd set in as many years, and giving them good reviews, it was very disappointing. So on I went to a different brand.

The active noise cancelling creates a constant white noise hissing sound. It does block out ambient noise, though. I sit outside a server room which is quite noisy and I'd say that about 80-90% of the air conditioner and fan noise is cancelled. The hissing noise can become annoying if you don't have music playing through the headphones. The cushions that sit on top of you head are just stuck on with double-sided tap. It's powered by a single AAA battery and it eats through it pretty quick. I can get maybe two work days worth of noise cancellation before I start noticing the affects. When the battery is low, for whatever reason, it reduces the audio level of any sound coming through the headphones. Simply toggling the power off brings back normal sound levels but you lose the noise cancellation. Replacing the battery with a fresh one brings things back to normal.All in all, I really can't complain too much. They block noise. They play audio. They cost $20. Don't expect Bose or Plantronics quality and performance and you won't be let down (too much).Update: I've been seldomly using these headphones while at work and at my desk so they weren't getting abuse. After about a month of use, the left ear piece, at the length extension, cracked. I was able to get passed this by wrapping electrical tape around the frame to hold it together. Since I could only adjust the length on the right side, they sat a bit uneven on my head but it wasn't uncomfortable. However, just not the left side broke again, this time at the folding swivel joint. The headphones are now unusable as the left ear piece flips outward and will not sit snug against the ear. I'm changing my review from 3 stars to 1. These are horrible, even for $20.

Tried these around the house and they work just fine. Haven't used them yet in a really noisy place. They sound good, but as others said the sound is lower when the noise canceling is not on. I use mine to listen to audio books at the gym. They are not as fragile as others have said, but if you are not careful you could break them at the fold.Have to update my review. We ordered 2 of these, one for me and one for my husband. Initially they were fine, but that did not last. The first time that they were used for several hours, one set stopped sounding good. The sound was totally garbled and lousy to the point were you could not use them. I have contacted Able Planet and the reply that I got was that they only replace if you registered them ( I thought I did) I also sent an email to the shipper. So far nothing has been settled. I will not be buying any more Able Planet Products.

I used this on my trip to Europe - WOW!! They worked and felt great. For the price, you can not go wrong. When I turned off the noise cancel, you could hear lots of jet noise - almost none with the earphones on. I highly recommend these unless you are a Bose Snob!

Bought our first 2 pairs at Costco a few years back. We fly 6-10times a year, sometimes to Europe ( long flight) and as I hoped the noise canceling helps tremendously. What I like just as much is the rich bass response these headphones have. I'm a professional drummer and I appreciate the sound of these reasonably priced headphones.Bought 2 more to listen to music in the gym. They are comfortable and like I said nice bass response :)

Work good for my situation. Really fold up small for travel. No problems with breaking or cracking. I've used them for several months. I like the volume control on the cord. Audio could be better, but ok for the price. I would buy again.
