Huw Lloyd Langton - 'Hard Graft' (Allegro)
Not sure if this is correct or not, but I read somewhere that this CD was Huw Lloyd's first new release since 1999's 'Chain Reaction' (see my review). I was really digging this title from the get-go. Tracks that truly showcase what Langton is capable of are the rocker "Hello Friend", the typical HLL tune "A Dream", the fusion-like "So Long Too Long", the awesome (close to a Hawkwind tune) "Strange Flower" and "Hard Graft, Part 2". When I got to hang out for a bit with Huw this last summer, he told me that he was pretty happy with how 'Hard Graft' had turned out + the fact that he still considered himself to be (somewhat a part of Hawkwind) and that he enjoyed guesting at their shows in the UK when Dave Brock includes "Hurry On Sundown" in the live set. He hinted that he simply did not wish to TOUR with them. Line-up: Huw - guitar & vocals, Richard Gillespie - bass, Tim Rice (R.I.P.) - keyboards and Volker Von Hoff - drums. A definite should-have.

yet more beautiful music from this great man
when i read about huws passing on the hawkwind site my heart sank,i had met huw a few times and first saw him at stonehenge in 1984 with the hawks and have followed em since. this is huws own band doing a mix of classical guitar and mellow rock styles with huws unmistakable playing, one of the best i have heard from him was a collaboration with dave brock called wastelands of sleep on the xenon codex(hawkwind) and it still leaves me feeling moved. all i can say is if you love guitar legends or are looking for inspiration to better your own playing then please get this or any hawk stuff with huw on...another classic was live chronicles with dragons and fables on it...pure genius. i cant say enough about huw to do him justice except buy this album as soon as you can and hear a master at work and play..........you will be missed huw and thankyou for all your music. i had to give this 5 stars and even thats not enough.

Still expanding after all these years
Huw is the best inner brother of all the space rock scene and still has a tremendous amount to offer . If it wasn't for him I would not play the Drums and guitar, I dare say that there are those that might think he had hes best days in the 70's. But if you tune in its still all there and his band support him very well I strongly recommend the live in Gravesend to:
