Bachmann Trains - Coastliner Ready To Run Electric Train Set - HO Scale

My 6-year-old nephew has been asking for a model train.....since he was 2.5 years old. When he was 3...."Santa" brought him a used one, and we NEVER got it to work. This year (I had to REALLY convince his parents to TRY again....they ARE expensive!) he got this one for Christmas. I would NOT recommend this for EVERY 6-year-old, or even MOST. But - for a model-train obsessed 6-year-old, this SET....is perfect! We are extremely happy with this purchase!

Need to buy extra tracks. Our grandson is obsessed with CSX railroad! He was thrilled when he unwrapped his present! Perfect size and reasonably priced.

Great kit. 8 year old loves it. Buy some more EZ track to expand your layout. No complaints!

I love CSX, I live near harpers ferry and we see CSX all the time. The set is highly detailed and great value for display or play. The only issue is that the train can be a little noisy. But it probably wasn't lubricated that well. But the train jolts when it started and has a little shake. Its not to realistic for an ho scale Bachmann train from 2018. This train doesn't have a slow realistic start up. But its not a big deal for kids play value. My opinion is that if you want a nice model of a CSX than GO FOR THIS SET. But if you want just a diesel train set, than get Bachmann's rail chief BNSF set. The train is highly detailed and smooth and it was quiet as a mouse when I got it. It also comes with additional figures, signs , telephone poles, and a signal bridge.

I bought this train set because I wanted a ready to run train all in one box, and I am happy with my purchase. I was surprised by how detailed the locomotive and rolling stock are for this price; this train looks better in real life than in the Amazon photos. The track fits together nicely and the train runs smoothly on the track without any derailments. The track makes about a 3 foot diameter circle, which is a good size and shape for under a tree, but I chose not to run mine under the tree to avoid carpet lint and dirt contamination/problems. If you're looking for a top of the line train, this probably isn't the best choice, but if you want a decent quality train at a good price to run during the holidays (or maybe year round), I suggest buying this train set.

My son really likes to play with model trains and he bought this set with his allowance when the package arrived it came in great condition and was easy to set up although the set comes with a circle he put two extra pieces of straight track on there and it ran perfectly and the train and cars were very easy to put on the track would definitely recommend this

Was looking for something to go round the Christmas tree, and was durable enough for a toddler to play with. This set fit both of those needs. Surprisingly sturdy for the price, as my 2-year-old quickly tried loading the cars and blocking the tracks with tinkertoys. Track clicks together easily, and tranformer hooks in with only 2 snap-in plugs. As a bonus, I found our old train set and was able to add on that track and several cars to make more elaborate layouts. The part my wife likes best is how quickly it disassembles and goes back in the box.
