FINALLY A GREAT SET OF HEADPHONES!
So I have been waiting for these for a few months now and I can say these are excellent headphones. I also have owned these which I will compare them to: Bowers & Wilkens PX Sony 1000 MX3 Master Dynamic MG20 So first off these feel well made but not overly heavy like the B&W PX, and not as light or cheap feeling as the Sony's. The app works well has a lot of features and does not force you to turn on location. You don't need the app but it is nice and works well. There was a firmware update that applied pretty quickly and they actually described the update and what it added/fixed which is nice as most companies don't really tell you. The voiced turning on/off prompts are nice, very clear and what's cool is you can change the prompt language as well. I set mine to japanese and I like the voice, lol! The headphones are more comfortable than the Sony's and the PX's over time, my glasses didn't dig in to my face and the clamping force is pretty much spot on. Inside the ear cups there is clear large letters for Left and Right which lets you put them on much faster. With the Sony's I had to search for the small L/R text and was always annoying. The PX isn't to clear either on the left and right positioning. The PX I had I gave away as one of the volume buttons stopped responding and I had to adjust it from the device everytime. Bowers & Wilkens support is terrible and weeks of emails they still refused to help me solve the problem. I considered the PX7 but the carbon infused plastic they use on the frame is a poor choice and will snap on impact as it is very brittle and not made for flexibility. I am a Mechanical Design Engineer and can tell you that was a terrible material choice. You can also look at the reviews and see how many people have had them snap. They do sound good though just like the PX but the new ones build quality is poor. The Technics has multi device connectivity which is great as I connect to my phone and PC at the same time and its a smooth swap when calls come in. There are 8 mics (4 for NR) and the call test I did were well recieved my my friends even in breezy area was very clear on the other end. The battery is the biggest draw here and I actually got more then 50 hrs on the first session as I did not have noise reduction on max. You can also choose your level of ambient noise in, there are lots of settings in the app. There are physical buttons for volume/power/pairing which is nice. I am not a fan of touch interface but you can also set up the touch style functions you want through the app as one of the earcup outer panels is a touch interface. The sound is very good for my use, they require high end input to appreciate them and I do not have that so best search other reviews for high end stuff. I watch movies, audiobooks, and PC games and its great for my needs probably more than I need. The Master Dynamic MG20's I returned through RMA, for $500 I expected great stuff but it has this stupid auto off feature thet turns off the headphone after 10-15 minutes of use if it doesnt detect movement. I mean If I am sitting and watching TV or on the PC or even plane I'm not really moving around alot and it was so frustrating as they were very good headphones otherwise especially the build quality. These also have a stupid app that requires your location to be on. Anyways for the price these are great, they are not cheap, but they are not price gouging either like some brands. The tech is cutting edge, battery life is the best on the market and they look good in an office setting, public or anywhere. I hope this review helps people with their decisions.

I tested the top 5 reasonably priced headphones and here is my review so you don't have to
Ok. It was Black Friday / Syber Monday 2024 and I figured why not drop some money and help everyone else figure out which headphones are the best. I did not test anything $600 or more. These headphones were mid level, where most buyers are. With incredibly pricing, some of these were downright a steal! I am going to break them down into a few categories (Sound Quality, price value, bluetooth app Connection, comfort, style) and give you the results on each category. I could not test longevity since I just got them all, so I will leave that for other reviewers. The headphones I tested were the: Beats Studio Pro X Sony WH-1000XM5 Technics Wireless Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e Bose QuietComfort Ultra The overall winner for those who don't want to read why is............. Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e. Second Place...... Technics Sound Quality Winner: Bowers and Wilkins PX7S2e Runner Up: Technics Wireless Comments: This one was hard to pick a winner. Bowers and Technics were dang near neck and neck. You can't go wrong with either. I had to go back and forth 10X to finally figure it out with all the songs I played. Some songs, Technics was better, some Bowers better. What it came down to was the immersion of sound. I felt Technics had the better highs and crisp voice sounds so if you are going for vocals, I would say Technics, but Bowers had a better feeling of overall broad balance of sound, lows and immersion. The Bose and Sony were 3rd and 4th. Beats last. Beats are great headphones, but they just didn't have the stable / predictable sound that Bose and Sony had. Price Value Beats Studio Pro X ($159) Sony WH-1000XM5 ($298) Technics Wireless ($172) Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e ($249) Bose QuietComfort Ultra ($329) Winner: Technics Wireless Runner Up: Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e Comments: For $172 the technics are hands down the best value / bargain of any headphone I have ever had. I have heard they have issues breaking on the hinge, so I can't comment on longevity, but for sound quality and price, there is nothing close to the Technics. I got them on sale, so not sure if they are going to be that price forever. My review on this would change if the price went back up. Bowers and Wilkins at $249 was unreal for the winning headphone. What a great deal. Beats are nice gifts, but nothing I would own now after reviewing these others. Sony was way overprices. Bose, utter disappointment for their pricing. Bose is a solid 8 across the board but never a 10. App Winner: Technics Wireless Runner Up: Bose QuietComfort Ultra Comments: I felt the Technics were the best overall app. Super easy for the normal user. Lots of easy sound options to choose from like bass+, vocal, treble+, dynamic. No weird screens. Just easy. I felt Bowers really dropped the ball on the app here and their app seemed a bit complicated with no pre settings to choose from. This was a bummer. Bose is always a steady 8, but never a 10. Good app, but not incredible. Just good and dependable. Sony, meh. they should change their name to always over complicate everything, but if you get it figured out they rock. Beats did a decent job.. Nothing I will remember. Bluetooth Connection Winner: All of them. I had zero issues with any, so they all get at least one spot on the winner podium. Comfort Winner: Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e Runner Up: Bose Comments: Bowers felt the best for sure. They just fit awesome. No doubt about it. Clearly the winner. Bose is a distant second. Beats felt really good actually so it took 3rd place. Technics is fourth but a bit stiff. Not quite as comfortable as the others. Sony was shallow so your ears hit the speaker cloth, which dropped to last place. If not for that, Sony would be number 3. Style Winner: Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e Runner Up: Beats Comments: Bowers hands down looks and feels like quality. Winner for sure. Beats colors are rad and they look amazing. Everyone compliments beats colors so they take runner up. Technics looks kind of cheap but they are not and this frustrates me as they have such a great brand, why cheapen them with such a cheap looking stainless design. Everyone loves the new flat colors and quality builds, not a headphone that looks like an outdated stainless steel refrigerator from the 2010 era. Final thoughts. Overall, Bowers is the best overall headphone, but dang, Technics is really an audio guys headphone if you want to hear certain highs and distant lows that should be your choice. Bose is a 8 out of 10 on everything, never a winner on anything. Sony was a disappointment to be honest. Beats is fine for style but lacking in the areas that matter the most. Long live Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e this time around. Good job.

Very good, but not great
Added pros and cons for each aspect that I experienced. Battery life is HUGE. Comfort: - PLUSH! Memory foam padding is great! It moulds to the surface of your ears and forms a very natural seal. - It does get a tad bit warm after wearing for a long time. After 2 hours on a warmish day I felt it could be more breathable. Noise Cancelling: - Very very impressed. I've not experienced Sony/Bose, but I'd imagine these are very close - Really like the dials to "dial-in" levels, ambient pass through, all of which I am content with Call Quality: - Didn't have any issues at all, did a decent job of cutting out back ground noise. There is a feature to test and hear for yourself in the app. Audio: - While the bass isn't punchy, it is balanced. If you try to increase the it in the App EQ, it does muddle the mids. I found it hard to make adjustments to bass/mids and feel like the overall sound was balanced. If left untouched or with one of the presents, it seemed good. Highs are VERY pleasant, which means that it will work for longer listening sessions with less fatigue. Instrument separation and sound stage are impressive. Not a fan of the audio prompts. While I'm overall happy, I am considering returning for the sound adjusting and audio prompts.

Sleeper!!
Ok, I’ve tried everything else but Bose for the bt over ears w the best noise cancelling and features - the ones I’ve tried in detail are these, Sony wh5 and 6, and bw px7 Sound quality, I’m gonna tie these and Sony as better than bw - I don’t go too crazy ab’ing with Bluetooth headphones - I know that you’re already compromising if you’re commuting with a bunch of ambient sound and noise cancelling to reduce that, so I’m just looking for not fatiguing (they both have eq to dip out some highs for my sensitivity to fatigue), full and defined. Px7s I had to pull the treble all the way down and didn’t like that there were only two bands of eq. Sony and these, noise cancelling quality is roughly the same, which is, physics defyingly good. Px7 the noise cancelling went away if I turned my head to the side and wasn’t that good, and also did that unpleasant vacuum thing I noticed most with the first AirPods to have anc. These have a two features I’ve never seen on any headphone which is you can calibrate the noise cancelling with a slider - no idea what it does, maybe it is tweaking the way it cancels the noise to different listeners perception based on their positioning and ear shape. But, great! And, you can turn up and down the AMOUNT of noise cancelling! Yes! Sometimes you want to kill just a bit but reduce that seasick feeling that all anc does (tho some is worse than others and it doesn’t seem to me to correlate with how effective it is) in any event the fact that I can tweak it to be cranked or less is so helpful - a plane you’ll want it cranked but if you’re studying in a library and just want to kill the ac unit but not have too much of that head warble, you can turn it down. Brilliant, have never seen it - my sennheiser momentum tw4 have the ability to adjust the amount of ambient sound but not the ability to adjust the amount of anc. I don’t really use the ambient hearing feature on over ears, they’re too easy to just take off, and I find the sound of my environment mic’d in my ears to usually be super unpleasant. I don’t really use them for phone calls either, so I can’t speak to those features. I like that, as with Sony, I can set it so that the touch pad just toggles anc and anc off and I can bypass ambient hearing - which like I said isn’t a feature I need. Connectivity, These connect better to my hosa transmitter I have coming off my record player’s amp and stay connected better, have further range, so I can put a record on and go out and chill on my patio. Delightful. The Sonys were dropping out in a busy part of of the city - I’ll update if that happens with these but it looks like there is more customizability in the app on preventing dropouts than you have with Sony. Px7 didn’t drop out but didn’t reach all the way to my patio cleanly either. Comfort - because Sonys were the winners previously on anc - I have tried to make them work multiple times - I bought and returned them when the 5s first came out, and then bought and returned the 6s, and then rebought the 5s and tried to use aftermarket cooling gel earpads - to no avail - they are just not comfortable on my head. Px7s weren’t either. These are. Oh also app is cleaner and easier to navigate, feature are more customizable. How the hell did I not see these on any roundups?? I had to dig deep to find these as even an option and they’re certainly not framed as one of the contenders for the best. Well, as some guy leaving an Amazon review let me say, they’re the best I’ve tried. And considering the deal I got on them for just over $100 they blow everyone else out of the water.

Best headphones yet— better than momentum 4 (broke after 3 months)
So let me preface this by saying— I have some hearing loss. It isn’t bad but it makes me very sensitive to listening to music and making calls. I have 4 major brand headphones here— the Apple AirPods Pro, the Sennheiser Momentum 4, the Bose Quiet Comfort QE 45, and now the Technics. I had the Bose first and really did not know what I was missing until I borrowed someone’s random headphones and I realized that the Bose was like listening to music inside a water well. It is like at least for me like listening to music in the next room where a lot of the detail is lost because The music is further away. So it is from this starting point that I began my quest to find headphones that would allow me to listen to the Spatial Audio tracks on Apple Music with the full effect intact with comfort being a major decision point. I then got the Apple AirPods Pro which are nice and do yield a full body sound but I really prefer over the ear headphones for comfort. I decided to splurge and about 4 months ago, bought the Sennheiser’s Momentum 4. What a mistake that was. The sound was good, the battery life was phenomenal but the killer to the deal at least for me the touch controls were buggy as could be. I would turn my head and they turn off. I move a muscle in my chair listening to whatever and I could hear ding ding ding and they shut themselves off. This is completely unacceptable to me. I checked and I did have the most up to date firmware. So I sold them. At a loss of course and I doubt I will buy another Sennheiser product. Now— I just received the Technics— the reason for this review. These are great. — comfort wise— 4/5. Not quite to the level of the Bose but good. I think I could wear these for an extended period. — app— 5/5 on par with Sennheiser — music— I listened to the same track on Spatial Audio with the technics and the Bose and it is infinitely times better with the Technics. 1000 times better. The music is present and right there— not listening inside a well. I might even say that to my ears better than Sennheiser. — Battery life— so far it is looking like the Momentum 4s are better but it seems to be on par with the Bose. The jury is still out. — Bluetooth connectivity— I am running an IPhone 15 Pro max and the technics connected effortlessly. 5/5 on par with the Apple AirPods. — Microphone to make calls— great 5/5– on par with the Bose or maybe better. As good as the AirPods definitely. — case and Build— case is nice and compact— headphones fold which is a major plus— case is better than Sennheiser because it is harder and more compact. The headphones themselves feel premium on par with Sennheisers. — Controls— 5/5– great. Awesome. Give me an on off switch! Check. Give me a volume up and down— check— no God awful touch controls— Check. So if you are torn like I was— I entertained the Technics initially and decided on the Momentum’s— if you prize your expensive headphones not shutting off randomly— get these and don’t bother with the Sennheisers. These check all the boxes maybe with a little less battery life but still ok— music sounds wonderful! I am so glad I found my way back to these headphones. Update: Hinge snapped on the right ear cup. I have never had an expensive pair of headphones do this. Don't buy.

Not in the audiophile class
1st and foremost, I must say the design of the EAH-A800 is absolutely beautiful and has this great professional look. As a DJ and quite familiar with Technics products, i couldn't wait to get my hands on this beautiful and sleek headphones. Mine arrived and neatly packaged. Now, to my disappointment the headphones are not in the audiophile class as the sennheiser M4 and Sony XM5. I even hooked it up to the Fiio BTR5 to boost it's output but to no success. Tried it both powered on and off and still the headphones failed to impress. Tried eq'ing it as well with no success. For the currently selling of $250+ price am afraid this is a bit disappointing in the quality sound area knowing what the technics brand is known for. Unfortunately i had to return mine after just 1 full day of use. Going back to pick up my sennheiser momentum 4. My recommendation: For work at home folks everyday listening to music- JBL flex (no tips). Beautiful sound stage and clarity at an affordable price. For medium to high end HIFI, i recommend the Sennheiser Momentum 4 due to it's beautiful Soundstage and clarity for both music and phone calls and give you up to 60hrs! For traveling I recommend the sony xm5 for beautiful soundstage, exceptional noise canceling. Also for travel will be my personal favorite the Bose QC 2 earbuds for its excellent noise canceling and great sound signature. For serious audiophiles on a budget and also on the go, I recommend the sennheiser ie900 paired with the BTR7. Hope this helps anyone looking for that great pair of headphones.

Extreme quality headphones for the price
I bought these headphones used like new. I wasn’t expecting much to be totally honest. However, I wasn’t blown away with the awesome sound quality, the sturdy building, and the generous battery life. I mean, I used these headphones for 3 nights straight for 8 hours and I was still at 65% power. I will admit that getting them paired was not easy on the first try. After the initial learning curve they were a snap to get set up with my other devices. So far, these are the best headphones I have ever owned. The sound isn’t as good as my reference earbuds but it is rich and full. A great value for the money! If anything changes I will update this review.

Headphones don't last long
Fragile Hinge-joint did not last a year i n my case. (you can search eby for more witness) The rest parts are fine: sound quality, comfy when wearing, noise cancel & sound isolation, BT connections.... would be nice. It is priced reasonable. It's pity headphones from Technics don't last long.
