It's RAM for how much?
What can I say... it's RAM. For more than twice the market value since it has sticker on that says Synology. I get wanting to ensure hardware compatibility, but there's no reason to double the price. Synology recently (seemingly) learned their lesson about vendor locking drives, but I don't see them letting go of this. So let's do something about the stupid markup... Other than that it's RAM and it works. PLEX navigates faster on my 1522+ (not night and day). VMs will be happier. Install was simple. The rub just is the price...

Too expensive
I purchased this before I realized how crazy the price was when compared to non-Synology brands. Fortunately I discovered this before installing it, and I returned the product. Instead I purchased equivalent memory from OWC. It cost 1/8th as much, and works great!

Didn't really need it
My first NAS, figured I'd also get more memory than the default. A little (more) reseach would have led me to realize that it was overkill for my situation. And so far it is has been, though perhaps I will use more of it as I get a chance to do some other things with the NAS. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have messed with the memory until later when I knew more about what I was doing.

It works well but $$$$$$$ is a bit over the top
I went with Synology Ram to keep their NAS happy and prevent them from backing out of their warranty. This RAM works well, but RAM should not cost this much. They are simply taking advantage of their users, and the same is true with their switch, which wants you to use only their HD. Yes, you can use other RAM and HD, but if you run into a system issue, you risk them not supporting the product and helping you sort out the issue, which is a risk with your data. I backed up to other sources as well, so I would likely be able to rebuild my NAS, but at the time, I just took the hit and paid the money for their RAM. It will be interesting to see what they do if the new Ugreen NAS upsets the ecosystem and has a good interface for users because then we would be back to being able to pick and choose our RAM, HD, and NVME SSDs for our NAS. Balls in your court, Synology!
