Train engine.
This train engine has to be the best and cutest toy I have ever purchased, period. Very happy with it and I am confident my Grandson will love the engine.

Very weak. Can only pull a couple of cars and not climb. Also drains new battery within an hour.

Really good little Train
My son loved this train. I had been looking for 1 that made all the real sounds and this was it. Plus its not loud enough to drive me nuts. Hes hooked up 8 wooden & plastic trains to it & let it pull them. We dont have a track and this is on tile. Its slow, but he has enough time to come running to me to say "the train is coming". Im pretty amazed with it. Battery do go fast. It take 2 different kinds. The power uses 1 AAA. Sound uses a couple of the round (CMOS lithium) kind for hearing aids. I havent had to replace them yet & dont expect to for a while. They were included. The forward-off-reverse lever was complicating for my son to understand at first. He got how you push it to 1 side for forward then the other for reverse. I had to show him the off was in the middle. Might be more complcated for younger kids. All & all, it is good for the price and is holding up well. My son usually tears up electronic toys in 2 days but we are almost on 1 month.

If you like a slow, weak train this one is for you
The media could not be loaded. The little train looks cool. The price was worth a shot. The one AAA battery is just to weak. Everyone laughed when we started it on the tracks. It’s really slow. I mean... really slow and as the battery loses power it gets slower. We call it the turtle train. It can pull 2 light cars for a bit but pushing one car seems to be our favorite. It’s still fun but if I was going to buy another one it will be the big red by Brio.

Good toy with definite pros and cons
Overall, this is a good value and I do recommend it. There are definite strong points and weak points to point out:+ Strong pulling power: makes it up a steep uphill incline with three cars attached.+ Price: got this for half the price of some more expensive Brio models.- Poor switch mechanism: uses a slider bar that you push one way for forwards, the other way to go backwards, while the center position is the off position. This switch requires a little too much finesse for a little one, especially compared to the simpler mechanism found on the Brio motorized locomotives.- No auto shut-off: if left on it will consume the battery in hours (much faster consumption than Brio trains).

Get two or three!!
I was pretty disappointed with how much the name brand versions of these were costing and reading very poor reviews. My little guy was 1.5 years at the time and I wanted to have one to play with however I thought he might break one so I got two!Its a charming little train engine in both sound, form and how it runs. Our 1st one has been running problem free. The second has not been opened yet!The motor battery is a single AAA battery. The sound battery is somewhere I haven't yet discovered as the sound operates independently of the single AAA batt. For the money get two or three!!Make them gifts for birthdays!!

Our Favorite
We have several motorized trains and this is my favorite and the kids favorite. It is super slow, but the kids don't care. They also love that it can go up the hills--the name brand trains have to far of a distance between the axels or are not strong enough. This little guys can pull three cars (linked with magnets) up the hill also. It has a separate button for sounds (and battery). My favorite thing is that it is much QUIETER than the other trains! Love it!

Good idea/terrible design flaw
Once the battery is added to make the engine go, the screw will not close the lid and will pop off almost immediately. It’s then ineffective. A cool idea, my son liked it for about 5 mins, but I will be looking elsewhere.
