98 Corolla -- time to upgrade to Carplay/Android Auto from my single DIN Alpine CD receiver. Never in my life would I consider Boss Audio for anything, but the online Youtube reviews were solid and having Carplay/AA in this 24 year old car would be AMAZING.Installation was simple enough for those who are familiar with car audio DIY. Surprised to see such a lightweight chassis and minimal (5.5 inch) depth. Plenty of RCA outputs (F, R, stereo sub) and even the option to turn off the internal amp.Touchscreen is positioned well forward away from dash, about 2.5 inches. Swivel and ability to easily adjust up/down are great. However, the touchscreen itself is mediocre -- contrast is low (even with Gamma maxed out), color depth is limited, and the response is slow and occasionally spotty, even though this is a capacitive screen. This (and the lack of a SiriusXM option) shows how Boss is able to meet a very low price point. BUT to have a touchscreen + Carplay/AA in this old Corolla for under $400??? Incredible.Positives: SQ is rather surprisingly solid -- quiet RCA outputs, full rich sound and fair output from the internal amp. Tuner has great sensitivity and immune from RF interference. USB/BT streaming sounds excellent and navigation is quick. Menus are a bit odd at first, but easy to learn. Both CarPlay and Android Auto work well. Being able to quickly remove the touchscreen for safety in high-risk areas is a plus.The included backup camera was a challenge to install in this Corolla (took more time to install than anything else), but the picture quality was surprisingly crisp.Overall, this Boss Elite single DIN BE7/9/10ACP series is an excellent alternative and value for those who are still limited to a single DIN, but would like to integrate their smartphone for navigation. The solid SQ and simple installation were surprises for a budget brand, but does show the progress that Boss Audio has made with their Elite line.

This little thing works great! I stuck it in an '05 Insight and with the 7" screen it fits perfectly and doesn't get in the way of anything else. Install basically was identical to any other single-DIN head unit. Touchscreen is responsive and CarPlay works better on this unit than on the stock system in my '18 LEAF. I added a little cheap Bluetooth control that clips onto the steering wheel, and it's almost like driving a new car. Great value for the money!

Professional installation by a 30 plus year automotive technician…. CarPlay stopped working almost immediately… head unit is leaving the sub woofer and amp power on, even with the key off, draining the battery. Neither usb connection will charge my iPhone 14 Pro. Bluetooth connection to my phone only works occasionally. Absolutely disappointing. This product is junk. Complete waste of money. So frustrating….

Works great just what I was looking for

Android auto doesn't work at all, just keeps connecting and disconnecting. I wanted to love this radio because it's a pretty ingenious design and the touchscreen looks nice but when you can't even get the one function that makes this radio desirable to work what's the point? Promptly returned.
