SALTWATER
The regular string is not good in saltwater. I use this in fresh waters and salt waters.Your day is shot when you get to salt water and only have fresh water string..After using freshwater line in saltwater I lost some nice fish from my lines breaking in fresh waters again.

Does not come with welded loops and the coating is not pre-conditioned
This line does not come with welded loops. Which is fine since l would have cut them off anyway and used a smoother connection. But it felt rough. I could hear it going through my guides. It felt sticky or grabby when shooting and stripping. I was disappointed. Then I applied some silicone from a line cleaning pad. All good after that. In fact I started liking the line a lot. Apparently, it does not come pre-conditioned. So you get what you pay for. It did pretty well for a warm water line in cold water. A little coiled at first, but straightened out easily. In warmer conditions it should be perfect. For the price, I give it 3.75 stars but you can only give full stars. If you want loops and/or pre-conditioned line, you can probably get that with a line that costs around $10 more.

This flyline was better than I expected
I was able to shoot out further than I have ever cast before. I will be buying more for my other reels.

High quality saltwater line at budget price!
I am a mid-level fly fisherman with little to no prior saltwater experience. I have casted an 8wt rod many times for salmon and steelhead in the Pacific Northwest. I purchased this Rio line to take to Belize to chase bonefish, permit, and other saltwater species. The majority of the week I was there it was pretty breezy. This line cut right through it and I was amazed at my own ability to make long accurate casts with it. I tried some other more expensive lines that a guide had on his boat and I feel that this Mainstream line casts just as good or better than most of them. It has a punchy weight forward taper that helps cut through wind and turn over larger flies. It even handled a wire leader and large baitfish pattern fly for barracudas with no problem. I also really like the light blue color of the line!

Good line for the price, but may need better depending on your fishing conditions.
purchased this line in 8wt to take to Belize to fish the flats as I needed a "tropical" rated line for the warmer waters there. I didn't wanna spend $100 on a premium tropical line as I would likely not use it much after this trip. The price for performance was a good balance, although there were times during the trip I had wished I ponied up for a better line. After fishing it for a while it would soften and then tangled fairly easily. A few times the slack line in the boat would knot from softening in the hot Belize sun. There were a couple of times I missed shots at fish from undoing tangles. It was a bit frustrating. It shoots fairly well though as long as you have good technique, and when the winds cooperated, I could shoot pretty much the entire line if needed. The winds on the flats in Belize however can often be brutal, and I found myself often wanting a bit heavier of a shooting head to punch through the wind better. In spite of the couple of performance downfalls on this line, I was able to land many bonefish throughout my trip, and even landed my first permit! Not a bad line for the price, but definitely better performing lines out there for tougher conditions. Will probably use this line for hitting local freshwater ponds this summer for bass and carp and will likely not have any issues for this purpose, but when I take another trip to the tropics, I will upgrade to a premium line.

Poorest shooting line I have used recently.
Can’t get as much distance as I am used to with even Chinese (Aventik) lines. Very disappointed. Doesn’t want to shoot. Too much friction. Squeals when stripped. A lot of fans here, but I am not one.

I caught fish with it. So it works.
Matched with an Orvis Recon 8wt.It cast well in mildly windy conditions fishing on flats and lagoons in Belize. You can't go wrong for that price! (Paid 55$ or so)Caught bonefish, snappers, baby tarpon on #4-6-8 and even 1/0 flyes.
