A delightful version of the humorous Odd stories
Dean Koontz's dozens of books are well-written, interesting, and have the literary qualities that others fail to master. Odd Apocalypse, published this year, was his fifth humorous novel focusing on the rather strange but very likable Odd Thomas, who may have obtained his name Odd when his mother misspelled the intended Todd. But it is descriptive because Odd is incredibly wise, respectful, and unusual; he uses the title "sir" and "ma'am" even to people who are intent on killing him in the most horrendous manner. His name is also descriptive because, unlike other people, he sees dead men and women, such as Elvis Presley and President Lyndon Johnson. The dead can gesture to Odd and frequently do so, but although some come to him seeking his help in obtaining justice, they are unable to speak. Odd works as a fry cook at the local dinner in Pico Mundo, California, and is well-known and appreciated because of his delicious pancakes. Odd's girl friend, Stormy, packs a pistol and isn't afraid to use it. Koontz has also written three graphic novels about Odd Thomas. This is the first of the three and was published in 2008. He wrote this novel with Queenie Chan, who did the illustrations. The plot focuses upon a stalker who committed a murder. Odd is nineteen years old and the sheriff, who knows about Odd's unusual ability, asks him to help find the stalker. The drawing are good, but Dean Koontz has been so masterful is describing Odd Thomas' activities, his thoughts and the humorous ways that he thinks, without ever describing him, that I felt a small disappointment in seeing him pictured in this novel. Interestingly, it is possible that Dean Koontz himself, who discusses the portrayal of Odd at the end of this book, never really visualized Odd, and while he liked the portrayal and thought that it is the best that one can come up with, it fell somewhat short. The story is good, but because it is a graphic novel instead of a full book, it lacks Koontz's clever humor. Nevertheless, I think adults will like this book, and it is an excellent way to introduce young people to the enjoyment of reading about Odd Thomas.

Something diffrent from Dean Koontz
A really neat change for Dean Koontz. Love his Odd stories and this is just another neat and different way to tell them. I think you have to be somewhat of an Odd Thomas fan to fully enjoy the story. The art in this book is nice. Dean Koontz comics and graphic novels are a must for any Dean Koontz fan/collector.

Not for me
I’m an adult and these are comic books that can be read in an hour!

Only good for a 'look' at their faces
Unlike others, I knew this was a manga comic in advance. However, this was an absolute waste of time and money. The story was boring and pointless. With all the exciting past adventures that have been mentioned throughout all the novels, this is all they could come up with? Where's the cross-eyed ferret, or starved alligator? No appearance by Little Ozzie, Chief Porter seems more like a yes man constantly hoping that Odd will save the day so he won't have to put in any effort, and Stormy and Odd talk about his secrets right next to people yet no one over hears them. Sure, it is only a comic, but I really expected at least some level of Koontz amazing ability to create a suspenseful story filled with exciting and deep characters. This comic absolutely failed to capture even a thimble full of character that so many love in the Odd series.

Everyone's favorite short order cook at his best
Another of the Graphic Novels in the Odd Thomas series, this is a prequel to the events of Odd Thomas, wherein Odd and Stormy experience adventures around the town of Pico Mundo. Everyone's favorite short order cook at his best, solves the mysterious goings on and saves the day again.

You can't go wrong with Dean Koontz!
I am a big fan of Dean Koontz and his Odd Thomas series. The graphic novel is just as good as the normal ones. Those of you who read a lot of manga will enjoy its unique structure and art. The actual story is great, and the artwork is just the same! Love it!

This is a tightly woven story written in the excellence that we have come to know in Dean Koontz. I downloaded the story onto my Kindle Paperwhite, and my only regret is that the text was nearly unreadable. It was entirely too small to be read comfortably. I believe it to be due in part to the fact that the text was no text at all, but a graphical representation of text. This means that the technology of the Kindle is not geared to enlarging graphics as it enlarges true text. Other than that, this is a work of the highest caliber, and I recommend it highly. The interplay with Storm LLewellyn is not to be missed. Odd and Storm make a wonderfully believable couple. This is a must-have for Odd Thomas fans!

Cleaver adaption of Koontz books about Odd Thomas into graphic novel. Fun to see the characterization in ink of Koontz people - I like Odd; love the Sherriff.

Dean Koontz is a read and a half - and his Odd Thomas novels sure are odd to the core! He is one of those gifted writers that would have you chuckling with a mouthful of good - with rather embarrassing results!
