SRAM MRX Comp 6-Speed Rear Shifter Shimano Compatible

Easy to install. Works great.

Bought to replace the original on my 6 speed Schwinn Cruiser. My derailleur and cassette are Shimano, and this is compatible with that. My original one was very similar, and also SRAM. I only replaced it since it broke on me due to old age / wear and tear.This is basically the same model as the original on my bike, though they have improved them since the original one was made. I bought the individual 6 speed model because I only have 1 front speed.This item came at a great price, which was half the cost of the local bicycle shop. It is good quality and works well and came with a generous amount of cable already installed and ready to install on your bike.

I love this product because it enables one to rejuvenate and/or repair older 5- and 6-speed bikes, many of which were well built and too good to throw away. I have two tandems, for example, a French one built in 1971 and a Japanese one built in 1982, both of which originally had friction shifters. Converting to a "modern" Shimano derailleur with indexed control makes a big difference in riding pleasure!The MRX twist shifter is one of those products that's cleverly enough designed so that even though it appears cheap, and in fact is quite inexpensive, it works well and seems to hold up. My touring bike has one of these that has been in pretty heavy use for about 2500 miles and still works about as well as when new. Please, SRAM, don't stop making these!

Very easy to remove the old one and install a new one. Worked like a charm.

Purchases this to replace the one installed on my daughters bike which had broken off. This unit was slightly different than what was on the bike already, and I had to tilt the brake levers slightly to make it fit correctly (with the numbers in view), but no bog deal. Was a simple process to thread the cable (already attached) through the various tubes and holders and attached to the rear gear assembly. A small amount of adjusting, and everything works fine. Very pleased when a DIY repair saves time and money.

Came with cable already installed, just feed wire, tighten grip shift and wire or gear side and all done.
