50 FT Fish Tape with High Impact Case for Electric or Communication Wire Puller

I gave this product a try when I was checking some construction polyduct to see where it led for installing the charges.At first I didn't know how to use it very well, but in no time I made use of the winding mechanism it has, and it worked beautifully. It easly unwinds and winds back manually for your convenience and safety. Also seems strudy, but do try not to drop it. I dropped it once, and it took the fall, but it's a bit heavy and if dropped from high enogh, it will break the plastic and render the tool useless.It's long enough for residential use and the price is great! Do buy this one, if you are working on residential intallations.Dec 4, 2011After many meters of running electrical wire using it in Mexican concrete constructions and polyduct, used in Mexico for raceways, the fish tape eventually breaks off and when kinked it loses strength to pull through wires. However, all I have to say is this tool gave out serving me, and even though it lost its reel rather early, I'd still buy another one to pull wires. It will soon die serving its purpose, and it did make my work easier for checking raceways and pulling wires. I still recommend it. It's one of the most frequently used tools for any electrician. I think I'll order that second one now.

i used this tool to pull cat5 cables in 1/2 inch metal conduits of various length from 20 feet to over 30 feet.The 2mm thick fish tape came out of the roll easily but covered in grease. I wore disposable gloves to keep my hands clean. The tape was curved but I had no problem pushing it through several curvey parts of the conduits. I duct taped the cat5 wires to the tip of the tape and easily pulled the wires through the conduits.The housing looked filmsy but survived 2 drops from 8-10 feet onto concrete. To wind the tape back into the housing properly, you have to apply friction by squeezing the trigger while winding the orange housing; otherwise, you might endup with a birds nest inside the housing.Over all, I'm very happy with this $12 purchase. It performed better than I expected. I thought I was getting a cheap disposable tool but this fish tape is built with same quality as tool that cost 5-7 times at the big box hardware stores. 5 stars!

I think this is a pretty good fish tape. The other ones I have used in the past were not so "circular in form." What I mean by that, is when you extend the tape it curls up into spirals again. No worries, a bit of bending action fixed that. Actually, I think it gets much better after using it so it isn't so spiraled up. I do not use this professionally, just for occasional home projects, and it was definitely worth the money. I would recommend it to anyone who needs one for doing projects around the home, or possibly light commercial use.

I'm not sure why this is called a 'tape' as that implies something flimsy to me. In reality, it is a fairly sturdy cable that can be pushed/pulled through hard to reach spaces to assist in running a cable. I debated between this and the thicker version, but I'm glad I went with this as it suited my needs just fine. The only downside I can see is that the cable wants to angle downward when you are pushing it through a space, but that's because it's stored in a circular container. You just have to bend it the other way a bit to get it to go straight.

I have used commercial fish tapes and this one did just as well for me. Granted the case isn't quite as strong and rewinding feels a little rough, but for home use this is a great product. Used it in walls, in the ceiling , and for pulling through some liquid tight conduit. Didn't bend or kink.

I don't have a lot of experience with fish tape, so keep that in mind. Having said that, this is probably as nice of one that I've ever used. It truly is a heavy, flat steel tape. I used it to pull cable through PVC pipes, and in hindsight, a cheaper one probably would have worked better, because it would have been more flexible (probably a nylon fish tape).In fact, I got it stuck good while pulling cable through (still have no idea how this happened), but I could push it back out, so I decided to cut it, because I'd been pulling it so hard that I was afraid I'd break the PVC pipes. This is when it hit me that it's truly steel, because I wasn't having any luck with my heavy cutting pliers. I could have used a bolt cutter, but instead I unrolled the tip and it came right out.I'll note that mine was as pictured and didn't have the new grip mentioned in the description, but it came from a different seller then the one given now (it arrived very quickly and well oiled, though). Overall, it seems like a very nice fish tape at this price point and it's probably all I'll ever need.

Pretty strong steel. Not too pliable. But gets job done.Very strong metal. The casing is weak. Not strong. It dropped from a 2 step ladder and casing developed a crack along side. That’s reason for deducting 1 Star.Over all doing what it was supposed to.
