I couldn't decide so I bought both: McDavid Elite 4197 Bio-Logix and the Shock Doctor Elite 2055 Bio-Logix braces. I thought I’d check form, fit, function and give a solid user review. But, I can’t because they are IDENTICAL right down to the Vietnam factory that made them. Even the wash and care label is IDENTICAL (except one shows the 4197 tag vs the 2055 tag). I can even tell the ‘allowable marketing choices given to each brand’: the front of the top ankle strap and the monograms over each ankle bone area. Save yourself money and buy which ever is cheaper “today”. For me, Shock Doctor was about $15 cheaper.

I ordered the M/L. I think I needed the XL. It was very tight on my foot and hard to pull around my ankle. I thought I'd ordered correctly according to the size chart. Having to return it. It's disappointing because I already returned another brand that didn't work. It's difficult to tell the size online.

This is the best ankle brace on the market. There is no ankle brace that offers more support then this. I am a JiuJitsu practitioner and this brace allows me to train with little to no discomfort

This is ok, I wouldn't think this is level 3+, maybe a 3. It is a bit pricey considering you can get other brands with a more sturdy design. But that depends on how you use it. This still allows a few movements and without hinges and plastic moldings, less chaffing or digging into anything, perfect for soccer, basketball, tennis, or jogging. However, you can't do much about tricky moves for soccer. Size wise, the elastic fabric part actually fits right for my size 8 foot in small, but the straps and the ankle part are just too small to fit. Straps not long enough So I had to exchange for medium/l. Then the straps are just the pefect length. But the tube sock is a bit loose, so wearing thick socks solve that. Fitment: First there are the verticle tube part that is opened on the back of your leg with 2 velcros to lock it down, then there are 2 staps that connects the sock part bottom, as you pull up the straps it locks down the sock part but it doesnt seen to pull the 2 vertical lateral inner and outer "splint" tighter, it just the socks... I will have to revise that again. Then the last strap at top seems to tighten the two splint but that is only the top. Which is fine, it would be perfect if there is adjustability at the ankle area. Construction is well made, the side splints are contoured forming to the shape with inner neoprene like cushion pads that makes it comfy to wear. I just got a impingment injury so that doesn't matter much for lateral stability, it does help a bit going upstairs. Dosiflexion, it does help a bit going up/down stairs But if I had a sprained ankle, these will definitely help. Overall pretty good ankle brace.

After tearing my ATFL, CFL, deep deltoid ligaments with 3 bone bruises, edema, a large hematoma I have bought seven braces since my walking boot. This has been the only brace I can get up and walk in without wanting to cry all day. It has really been a game changer for me. The gel cushion with hard outside plastic around my ankle has really made it feel secure. I would definitely recommend trying it if you have a grade 3 sprain or above. On a side note, finding shoes that fit comfortably is tough with a large brace, I found some keens tennis shoes that worked for me. Anyone else find something?

I bought a few different ones to see which one I liked the best. This one was it.

I broke my ankle five months ago and this brace was recommended by my orthopedic surgeon. I have n idea if this support is good. I received a box that said 4197 bio-biologic. The brace in the box was not like the one advertised. The instructions were impossible to follow. There was only one orange tab and the strap placement instructions, non-interpretable. This goes for the youtube video by McDavid. I have a serious suggestion for McDavid: This is a serious injury and needs a serious device so it deserves a serious, more descriptive tutorial. What you now have is very poor and, incorrect placement leads to severe pain. Shoutout to McDavid, who after a full explanation of what I received, agreed to send a new one without going through Amazon. Integrity is not dead for American Companies. I would recommend buying this on this excellent customer service and will re-evaluate when I get the correct one..

Warning: Doesn't remotely fit in a shoe.I tore a ligament (3rd degree sprain) and was put in an aircast/walking boot. (PSA: Wear your boot!! This isn't a substitute!) My doctor said I could take it off to sleep, but the covers dragging across my foot hurt so I got this. I was looking for the sturdiest thing I could find and this did the trick.After several weeks in the boot I switched to using this during the day and it's a lifesaver. The rigid parts are on the inside and outside of the ankle and very sturdy.I'll have to swap to something lighter to be able to wear normal footwear though.

La compré para una rotura de calcáreo y astrágalo complicada, me permite andar sin cojera ,y me asegura no doblar el tobillo que sería fatal para mí, hacer deporte con ella durante mucho tiempo ya no se si sería cómoda, pero para mi caso está bien. Compraré otra seguro.

Funciona muy bien, solamente la correa de abajo tiende a correrse y machucarse con el tenis, por lo que es necesario agarrarla en la parte alta de la tobillera y el problema se soluciona. EN general la tobillera se siente de maravilla y funciona muy bien, mi tobillo se siente bien asegurado con ella mientras juego tenis.

Sizes are not fitting as they combine sizes. XS & S to one; then M & L to one. I did measure according to their instructions. So for me, M&L will be too big and I have to order XS/X. When I got it, I found it too tight. It is good for XS but not S.

This product has amazing support. But I ordered the m/l and I have average size women’s feet and the straps were too short to secure as directed. Then the brace itself is so bulky I can’t fit any of my shoes on. How am I supposed to use it?
