From #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes a new novel in her Blood and Ash series... Is Love Stronger Than Vengeance? A Betrayal... Everything Poppy has ever believed in is a lie, including the man she was falling in love with. Thrust among those who see her as a symbol of a monstrous kingdom, she barely knows who she is without the veil of the Maiden. But what she does know is that nothing is as dangerous to her as him. The Dark One. The Prince of Atlantia. He wants her to fight him, and that's one order she's more than happy to obey. He may have taken her, but he will never have her. A Choice.... Casteel Da'Neer is known by many names and many faces. His lies are as seductive as his touch. His truths as sensual as his bite. Poppy knows better than to trust him. He needs her alive, healthy, and whole to achieve his goals. But he's the only way for her to get what she wants-to find her brother Ian and see for herself if he has become a soulless Ascended. Working with Casteel instead of against him presents its own risks. He still tempts her with every breath, offering up all she's ever wanted. Casteel has plans for her. Ones that could expose her to unimaginable pleasure and unfathomable pain. Plans that will force her to look beyond everything she thought she knew about herself-about him. Plans that could bind their lives together in unexpected ways that neither kingdom is prepared for. And she's far too reckless, too hungry, to resist the temptation. A Secret... But unrest has grown in Atlantia as they await the return of their Prince. Whispers of war have become stronger, and Poppy is at the very heart of it all. The King wants to use her to send a message. The Descenters want her dead. The wolven are growing more unpredictable. And as her abilities to feel pain and emotion begin to grow and strengthen, the Atlantians start to fear her. Dark secrets are at play, ones steeped in the blood-drenched sins of two kingdoms that would do anything to keep the truth hidden. But when the earth begins to shake, and the skies start to bleed, it may already be too late. Review: Intriguing, romantic and unputdownable read! Absolutely recommend. - 4.5 stars Oh my goodness, I absolutely adored this book! It seamlessly picked up from the first one, and Jennifer's skillful crafting of a magical world with her unique flair was captivating! I won't be able to share the blurb of this book without giving too much away. I can definitely say that we get to see more of Poppy and Hawke and I loved seeing them together! The steamy scenes were so incredibly… steamy! But what really impressed me was how much the characters were fleshed out in this book. Poppy and Hawke were so much more than I expected! And Kieran...omg, I just loved him! His wisecracks and reactions to Poppy's endless questions had me laughing out loud. The banter between Poppy and Hawke was also hilarious and had me grinning from ear to ear and I loved every minute of it.😁 Poppy's curiosity and desire to learn and understand the world around her were one of my favourite things about this book. And don't even get me started on Hawke - he had me swooning from the very first page! But there were times when I found myself getting frustrated with him. He apologized way too much for things that were beyond his control, and it felt like he was constantly putting himself down. While I appreciated and adored how he kept telling Poppy he wasn't worthy of her, after a point of time it just got on my nerves. Also, the slow pace at the beginning left me feeling like not much was happening. However, it did not dampen how much I enjoyed this book. It's safe to say that Jennifer L. Armentrout has won me over - her writing is phenomenal, her world-building is incredible, and her characters are so well-developed. But what I loved most was the way she portrayed Poppy. I simply love books that depict strong, fearless female protagonists, and Armentrout's portrayal of Poppy was amazing. Intriguing, romantic and unputdownable read! Absolutely recommend. AMAZING
I ran across this series as a suggestion on Pintrest. I can't..there are no words for how amazing this series is. It's 50 Shades of Grey, Game of Thrones, and City of Bones thrown into one series. Thick books each between 540-640 pages. I swear you won't feel they are; you will find yourself hanging on every word. I tore through the 1st two books in a week and a half. Already 140 pg into book three. Beware; I have become addicted and stay up way too late every night reading knowing I have to wake up early for work the next day. As soon as work is done, I'm right back to reading.
