From Louis Sachar, the multi-award-winning author of Holes, comes the New York Times bestseller that's been nominated for 13 state awards and counting! They got lost. The world got scared. And the mud got fuzzy. Fifth grader Tamaya Dhilwaddi and seventh grader Marshall Walsh have been walking to and from Woodridge Academy together since elementary school. But their routine is disrupted when bully Chad Hilligas challenges Marshall to a fight. To avoid the conflict, Marshall takes a shortcut home through the off-limits woods. Tamaya, unaware of the reason for the detour, reluctantly follows. They soon get lost. And then they find trouble. Bigger trouble than anyone could ever have imagined. What they uncover might affect the future of the world. FUZZY MUD is an imaginative and suspenseful story of the great lengths we’ll go to for friendship and family, the mishaps and breakthroughs that are made in the name of science, and the wonders of mud . . . fuzzy mud. good read-aloud
I read this story to my 7 & 10 year old at bed time. We loved Holes and wanted to try another book by Louis Sachar. This book kept their interest and had a few laughs, but not as many as Holes. A bit slow in the beginning, but we enjoyed it!

Amazing story
I loved the courage Tamaya showed in the story and the development of the character. It's a great story with two plots that collide at some point and develop into a happy ending.

Great story for Middle School
I use this book for my seventh grade class. It’s interesting and the characters are well thought out. It is easy to annotate for literary elements of character change, conflict, bullying, and has a good dose of corporate greed and irresponsibility. It’s a good read, and I definitely recommend it.

Great Read For Teens
I enjoyed Fuzzy Mud and I loved the characters and the overall message of the book which was friendship and bravery. I thought the author did a fantastic job tackling the enviroment (world problem) and he shined a light on bullying. The author did an incredible job weaving these themes into the story. Now, if you enjoyed Fuzzy Mud I highly recommend The Mysteries of Woodland Academy! Its great for kids and it highlights, beautiful world building, adventure, bravery, friendships, family, crushes, magic, and choices. All in all, both books I highly recommend.

Great Book for Young, Adventure-Thrilled Readers
This book is a must-read for young readers. The style, organization, and tone is both exciting and makes the book that much more riveting. I would love to see a potential sequel!

Twists and turns, science gone wrong, and kids saving the world!
I read this book because I wanted to see if my 11 year old granddaughter would enjoy it. I had read a review that made it sound interesting. For an adult reader, some of the character development and plot may seem a bit shallow. But I really enjoyed getting to know all the characters and following the story line. The subject matter, scientific developments to supply needed items and make someone rich threaten people's health and the environment due to lack of consideration about long term effects. Throw in a bully and a couple of very smart kids and you have a great story. Leave it to Louis Sacher to throw in many twists and turns as the tension builds, problems are faced and resolved. I think my granddaughter will love it!

Great For Grade 5-7
This book was another great novel by Louise Sachar, his writing talents are outstanding. I loved this book so much. I do not think it would be good for kids under 10. For one it is possibly a more advanced read, and for two it is possibly a little scary to some. I did not find it scary (And I tend to be more of a wimp). I think it is also very good for this time, in the story they are under quarantine and they finally find a cure. I like to think that will happen in real life too, we will find a cure. I would defiantly recommend this book. It was fun and encouraging, It has so many good lessons in it its hard to count. one of my favorite books for sure. You should read it!
