Basmati Rice, 5 packs of 500g

I have purchased this rice a few times now. Can't fault it. Cooks perfectly every time and I prefer this to a number of other brands bought from the supermarket. I cook mine in the Joseph Joseph microwave rice cooker for 9 minutes and leave to stand for 5 minutes. The rice never sticks, has a really nice scent to it and it is reassuring to know that after cooking this rice many many times, that I can depend on the results every time. Update: have just received my latest order of the 5 packs of rice today, 22/08/2025 and the best before date is the 16/10/2025. So I have just under 8 weeks shelf life for 2500gs of rice! I will never get through all that in time. This has made me think twice about ordering it again. Very disappointing as the rice itself is good but not impressed about the shelf life. My current 1kg bag is dated April 2026, so where on earth was this set dug out from?!

I’m really pleased with the quality. The rice is fragrant, with the classic long grains and aroma you expect from good basmati. We go through a lot of rice, and this is a reliable choice. The grains are long and separate nicely when cooked. The packaging keeps it fresh, and it’s great for curries or pilafs. No complaints at all!

I now buy this rice as I can put little bags into fridge and keep them free of any little weevils that I can’t see. Used to get large sacks of rice, and was told they are ok as long as you wash them. Not for me anymore. After going through the sack of rice I was amazed what I seen. Keep small bags in fridge and you’ll be bug free.

I purchased these because I didn't want to spend a fortune on Basmati rice. You get what you pay for. It's not terrible, but this is about average (at best) for a Basmati. The water required is a lot less than what I am used to, and so I managed to make rice that was over-cooked the first few times. The grains are not very long, almost looks like normal rice. Overall, if you're on a budget, this is better than normal rice that you may get, but it's not the premium Basmati in terms of size, flavour, aroma or the overall look. Buy it bearing this in mind.
