Emergency Light 674074 Two head

Our condo association bought several of these lights a few months ago. They were easily installed where the previous light fixtures were that did not have back up battery. About two months after the installation, our building had a complete power failure at 4 am. My smoke detector was buzzing so I knew that there was no power and it woke me up. I looked outside to see if it was just my condo or the entire building. I could not tell that it was the entire building at first since the hallways were so lit up. I opened my front door and then I saw that all of the halls and stairwells were lit up with the back up emergency lighting. They definitely performed as they should have and I would recommend them.

I ordered this for my home to provide emergency lighting in case of a power failure. When I ordered it, the image showed just the two lights in a white case similar to what you can get at the big box home stores. When I received the package, it was an emergency light, but it is attached to this huge lighted EXIT sign which I didn't order, and don't need in my house. The EXIT sign can't be removed because it houses the transformer that charges the battery. I gave it two stars because it does work, otherwise one star. Either the description and pictures are wrong, or they sent me the wrong item. Either way BE CAREFUL.UPDATE 8-11-11: I ordered another unit with the assurance from Amazon that I would get the correct item this time. Sure enough, Amazon was true to it's word. The new unit is just as pictured. I plan to add a power cord to the unit so I can plug it in where ever needed. I have one in the living room out of sight on top of our hutch. If the power fails, I don't have to fumble around for a flashlight. I added another star to my review. Now that I got the right item, it's great. Adjustable lights, compact size, easy to wire.

I have been pleased with item. Easy install and good price. Not super bright but certainly good enough and good battery life when the lights go out. Ended up getting a second one for another room.

The emergency light arrived as viewed on Amazon. The light worked after battery was installed. Installed back plate, but I had to reinforce knock-out with a fender washer because the back plate would twist as the screw was tighted. I next had a very difficult time installing front cover. The front cover swivels into place top down, but as you try to close the front cover you lose sight of the alignment strip and with out seeing it, its hard to get the alignment correct. After several tries the cover engaged and the light went out for it was now on a/c power. The light was tested manually and the electricity has went out and the light functioned. I gave it a 5 for the light after installation is nice and bright and the direction of the beam can be adjusted.

WORST PURCHASE EVER from Amazon. The 30 day guarantee expired one day before we could schedule installation. BOTH of the units we bought fell to pieces (literally) during installation. We barely could make ONE whole unit out of both we paid for. I have loved Amazon and used them for both business and personal applications, but will probably buy less from them in the coming months because of this bad experience.

installed 12 of these in apartment building - easy install - one started to make a buzzing noise about 2 years later - circuit board was burned and battery leaked - replaced it with same brand - 3 years later another one did the same thing - trying another brand

This product is exactly what I needed and very affordable. The installation was simple and I did it myself with live wires. It was easy and the instructions were right on. The cover was a little tricky but once a good look at it was done, it was easy. Does everything it is suppose to and reacts to power loss instantly with no delay. I will be ordering another to replace the other 20 year old unit I have. It is cheaper than just replacing the battery in that unit.

I have purchased these replacement emergency lights before and never had any issues. This time I purchased 2 replacement emergency lights and after a week on the wall the batteries supplied with the lights would not charge fully and activate the lights. (Batteries may have been too old?) I put replacement batteries in the lights that I have for my other lights in the building, and they started working. The only thing I am not sure of at the time of this writing is if the lights will maintain the charge in the new batteries I installed.
