USB C SPDIF Emitter

My prior desktop computer had an optical output. With my laptop, no such luck. So I purchased this unit and it worked perfectly right out of the box, no Windows settings required adjustment or configuration. I should add that I actually connected this unit to a docking station that is connected to my laptop and not the laptop itself, and was concerned that this may present a complication but it did not. The computer located the converter right away. The sound quality is excellent in my opinion. I source music to a pretty high end audio setup and there is no background noise or hiss, and no stuttering or other sound issues.

I hooked them to 2 sterio systems in 2 different rooms. They are connected to my Mac studio. You can play multiple systems with these and the sound is amazing. Absolutely no static. Unlike Bluetooth.

If you have a PS5 and want to use your headset, which includes an optical connection, this is exactly what you might need to prevent your headset from becoming a paperweight and a waste of good money. FYI: I presently own the TB Stealth 520 Premium Headset. Here’s how I set it up. After plugging the Cubilux type C input to the front of the PS5, I plugged the usb (from headset) to its port, and finally the optical cable (connected via usb) into the Cubilux optical adapter, and viola! everything worked perfectly. I also lost none of the direct headset functions, which is a plus. Of course, I could not believe I only now noticed the PS5 did not include an optical port. Why not? How does that even make sense when Sony knows optical ports are necessary for pairing your headsets to the console? In any case, I’m happy I decided to search Amazon to see if there was the possibility that some vendor may carry a usb to optical cable hookup, and came across this wonderful little item. I say small, cause it’s way smaller than it appears in the photo, (about 1” w/4” cable) which is a good thing as it remains unseen due to its size. If you want to use your wireless headset, which includes an optical cable, I would recommend this item.

This little gadget truly works and will output full hi resolution, lossless music using Apple music and Amazon music prime unlimited. It will absolutely be better than streaming wirelessly which is always lossy. However, and I want to emphasize, the light output gain on this is quite low compared to a AC powered CD player or streamer, because it is powered by your phone or tablet. Therefore you must, in my experience, have the volume set at maximum on your phone or tablet and use your DAC preamplifier or final amplifier to control the volume of music. Using this on my Onkyo A-9150 saved me at least $800 on an expensive DAC. 5 STARS If they can improve the output strength.

Works on my iPhone 15 pro max just fine. I was surprised I had zero problems.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: This is rubbish. Purchased this for my Mac to replace an 2.0 optical convert because I wanted 5.1. Not only did never work in 5.1, no matter what kind of source I was playing, but it sounded TERRIBLE. DO NOT BUY.

I've been using the optical digital output (via the headphone jack) from a 2015 Macbook Pro as the digital source for a high-end audiophile grade stereo system. I send the bit-perfect optical signal to an external, standalone DAC which feeds the analog signal to the preamp and amplifier. This is the highest quality sound possible because the audio from the Macbook remains in the digital domain. Now that I have a 2021 Macbook Pro and Apple has decided to abandon Toslink optical as an option, this little adapter is a necessity and it does exactly what I need: it sends pure digital audio to my high-end DAC. While there are certainly drawbacks to using optical connections (the connectors don't always play nice with the inputs on certain gear), the benefits are electrical isolation and ease of running a 12 ft long, thin cable from the couch to the system. If you can relate to this scenario then this little adapter is a godsend.

I use this to connect my work laptop to the third input of my DAC on my audio system. It works, decently well. Plug and play, audio sounds fine, no complaints at first. However once it has been plugged in for an extended period of time, which is only a few days, it will start "resetting" for lack of a better word. Whenever it is not playing audio it will stop sending signal to the DAC entirely, which causes the DAC to stop seeing it as a source. So latency is added. Play am audio file? This will 'wake up' and start playing but not after missing the first few moments of the audio. This happens for notifications. Music. Videos. Anything that outputs audio. And as soon as the audio is done, this will stop sending signal again entirely, dropping off the DAC again. And if your DAC has a source switch relay like mine does letting it do this can wear it out mechanically as well. You have to unplug the adapter and plug it back in to get it to stop doing this. Which, for what should be a plug and forget solution, makes this a really subpar experience for me.

I purchased this as a (hopefully) cheap way to upgrade my audio across the board with the intention to use the SPDIF with my Fiio E17 portable DAC/Amp which contains an Optical connection via an adapter which it came with. So I figured instead of using the 3.5mm connector to pipe my audio through why not get this and use USB audio and convert it to clean Optical - and it works perfectly plug and play with my phone/tablet and my Steam Deck and on PS5 you just have to use the front USB C port switch to the SPDIF converter (oddly enough not the DAC) and it works and sounds fantastic! No bluetooth either which means no audio lag or loss of quality. So this converting USB audio to clean Optical via a DAC/Amp combo using Quobuz bit perfect mode or Amazon Music Ultra HD tracks wow! Movies sound fantastic too. As do games. Delighted with this product. Its a lot smaller than it looks too Might try and get a small Optical cable to cut down on the wires making it more portable.

Excellent little device at a great price. It acts as a USB Audio Class 2 device. Plug it into USB on a computer, phone or tablet (including via a Lightning adaptor on iPad/iPhone), and you get out optical audio, suitable for many items of audio equipment. I tested it thoroughly. It provides bit perfect performance on CD-standard digital audio -- 44.1kHz -- and also supports 48kHz, 96kHz and 192kHz, 16 and 24 bits. It does NOT support 88.2kHz or 176.4kHz. These are relatively rare, but do exist. Your device will convert them to 96kHz or 192kHz. Formats as shown in image. In 99.9% of use cases, though, the gadget it great.

Was looking for a connector from my MacBook Air which has 2 USB-C output. My WiiM Amp Pro does not support USB input but it has TOSLINK. So, thank to the maker of this product so I can play any music source - watching YouTube, listening to music library and conference Zoom calls. Package well packed decently.
