NORCO RPC-2208 2U Rackmount Server Case

Brand new out of the box, the BIOS was unable to recognize any drives plugged into the control plane. After enduring weeks of back and forth troubleshooting via email support, having to buy/install "Norco cables" and other ridiculous troubleshooting steps, the issue was identified as a bad control plane. They sent a newer version control plane, which required 2 hours to replace, only to discover that 4 brand new drives and 4 old drives with over 6TB of data I've literally had all my digital life, were still unrecognizable. I plugged the disks into another computer to discover they were still unrecognizable, indicating that the first bad control plane fried all 8 of my drives, which also happened to store several bitcoins. After searching the internet, I realized this is not the first time a Norco controller has wiped out significant amounts of data and toasted drives. Confronted with this evidence, Norco stopped responding to any of my communication attempts and was unable to speak any English when I called their support number (which I got the impression was intentional due to the severity of my problem). After a year of countless hours and thousands of dollars dealing with drive recovery attempts, talking to lawyers, and mental anguish over my lost bitcoins, I threw this chassis in the trash. Lesson learned - cost me 200x trying to penny pinch instead of buying a name brand chassis. I'll never buy another Norco product as long as I live.
