PANAVISE 376 Self-Centering, Extra Wide Opening Head

Needed other accessories and this one worked to the addition. If custom building PCB boards is something you do, this helped immensely.

I was looking for a decent vise for my art projects and I first bought the Stanley MaxSteel 83-069 Multi-Angle Vise (ASIN:B000UOJF66) - it had decent reviews.However, after returning 2 different defective vises from Stanley (the vise warbled as it closed and opened because of a warped center-pin), I had to go with a different brand - PanaVise did not disappoint.While certainly more expensive, it's light-years ahead of the Stanley in build-quality, operation, and finish. PanaVise makes vises - and that's pretty much it - so they know what they're doing.Pros: opens and closes smoothly, you can flip the jaws around (face-in or out), opens quite wide, can change out this head for several different variation, and very sturdy.Cons: expensive and the head and base sold are separately (but on some parts of Amazon, you can buy combos - I just didn't find this particular combo: PanaVise Model 376 Wide-Opening Head with Panavise 305 2 1/2" Low-Profie Base).Overall - a very nice hobby vise.

I have used these PanaVice products for decades, both at work and home. Their simple design ensures low probability of failure, and are just the right size for working on circuit boards, and finishing small sheet metal filing. They may be excellent for other jobs, but That is not what I use them for.I currently use 376 Self-Centering, Extra Wide Opening Head, 311 Bench Clamp Base Mount, 303 Standard Head, and 324 Electronic Work Center, and considering a tablet mount for my car.

Many of the reviews mention sharp edges, this was not a problem with my order, it appeared like someone had deburred it with a file, that's great but doesn't excuse a major problem.The lead screw in mine was bent, enough that there was about 3mm of deflection at the far end. This caused a tight spot and resistance on every turn of the crank.I disassembled it and straightened the lead screw and it works smoothly now, but this reflects very poorly on a made in USA product that boasts a lifetime warranty. Perhaps I could have exchanged it for a new one, but as I had the tools to correct the issue, I just fixed it.PanaVise, if you're monitoring these reviews, please try and do better. The packing on mine was perfect, it was not damaged in shipping, it almost certainly left the factory this way.

Marvelous attachment for the PanaVise 300 series base. I've added the Heavy-Weight Base, and between the two extras, this vise will handle most any hobby (or other light or medium) stuff.The jaws are reversible, as are the rubber slide-on jaw covers. One side is ribbed and the other is V-shaped to hole vertical round items. Reversible jaws, allow for fully closed jaws and also maximum opening width.The crank adjustment is very smooth. (It's a fine thread, so a lot of rotations are required to open and close the jaws from closed to fully open, which is okay, because you have complete control over the pressure exerted on you object.)I recommend this for any hobbyist project, and in some cases for intricate parts holding for wood shop items

Jaws do not align perfectly square. Cannot handle higher loads and tends to flex. Small handle. Seems little pricy for quality. Overall good product, expected slightly more robust crossmember

what more is needed to say? solid brand for decades. decent prices too.
