Where's the CD???
There is supposed to be a CD with this book. I am giving this as a Christmas gift and expect the CD to be present in the book. I am rating this item 4 stars because of the carelessness on the part of the publisher not to physically include the CD. I have the "Excel 2000 Formulas" by the same author and a plastic pocket containing the CD is attached to the inside of the back cover of that book. (publisher IDG books). The printed content in "Excel 2010 Formulas" deserves 5 stars, but I am irritated enough to drop a star over the CD issue. I would like to get the CD for this book. I suppose I have to go through the Amazon exchange process and send this copy back. How can I be assured that the next book sent will contain the CD?**** I returned the book that was missing the CD for a quick Amazon refund and ordered another of the same book hoping that it comes with the CD-ROM. It was delivered on time today with the CD-ROM. I feel better now. I'm bumping the review up from 4 to 5 stars. The book binding machine at Wiley made the error not the author nor Amazon.Happy Holidays to All.

No Power Utility Pack
Hello, I will start with the caveat that I haven't actually used the book yet, but I've used other Walkenbach excel books and they are great. I assume this one will be too, which is why I gave it four stars. The problem I have is this. The amazon ad says that the CD-ROM comes with the award winning Excel Power Utility Pack. This is an add on created by Mr. Walkenbach with additional functions. This is false advertising. The only thing it comes with is a link to a 30 day free trial that anyone can get by just googling "power utility pack". It does come with an order form to buy the add-on at a deep discount which is a great value, but amazon should be more up front about this. There is a big difference between software already loaded on the disk, and a link for a free trial. This book is probably still a good value, I just wanted to let people know that it doesn't come with the Power utility pack as promised.

I bought this book to help me with a college Finance class and found it to be very helpful.
I bought this book to help me with a college Finance class and found it to be very helpful. The thing that would have made this better would be if I had made the purchase at the beginning of the semester to help me figure out how Excel works in relation to putting formulas into a spreadsheet. "They" could make a class about it and require it as a prerequisite for taking a finance class; it would help students have a better understanding of the Finance concepts instead of spending a lot of time trying to get the right answers to the problems.

Excel 2010 Formulas - Great Book!
Excel 2010 Formulas is a great book. I have learned a lot about how to work with Excel formulas. The background on the differences between Excel 2010 and older versions is very helpful, also. The author does not leave you hanging if you are still using older versions, he has included older versions of many of the formulas so the book is "backward compatible". You may find it helpful to skip ahead to the chapter on arrays before reading earlier chapters because some of the formulas use arrays. This should not be a problem unless you insist on reading strictly front to back.Very highly recommended.

Not for beginners but highly worthwhile
I highly commend this book to "power users" to utilize the extensive features of Excel. As the author makes clear on page 1, this book is NOT for beginners! Because I categorize myself as an "advanced beginner" it became necessary for me to augment this book with others--just to gain proper perspective and understanding. But this book IS highly recommended. By waiting a couple of months post-purchase to write this review, my opinion is that it is hard to imagine not having this book available as a resource.

Excellent Book
It is an excellent book and I was pleased to be able to download the kindle version as I needed it immediately. Unfortunately it was not possible to obtain access to to the CD or sample files as is the case with other books of a similar nature.

Very helpful
I would recommend this book only if you are used to learning things on your own. I used at my job when I was stuck and it helped me produce some good products.

Very hard to read!
I had high hopes for this book as I find Excel to be fascinating. I wanted a book that will provide formulas in a clear, step-by-step manner, but this book fails miserably. It is a very bland and boring read with no colour pictures, and the type is very faint written on cheap paper. I wanted to buy other books by this author too, but based on this book I will forget it. Needless to say, I promptly returned it.

Good Reference
This is suitable for both beginners and experienced Excel users. It's not the sort of book that you start at page 1 and read to the end.I've the Kindle edition which makes it searchable, but the graphics are tiny and can't be read even with the zoom. The other annoyance is the numerous references to the CD-ROM which you do not get access to with the Kindle edition. Buying the printed book gets you the CD which contains a PDF version of the book which can be read by a Kindle (and if previous experience holds true has viewable graphics). I'd recommend this route rather than the Kindle edition, worth the few pounds extra.

Overlap with other book Excel 2010 Bible
There is a lot of overlap in this book with his other book Excel 2010 Bible, so make your own judgement whether you want to buy both as its often an option as frequently bought together. But personally I would say get Excel 2010 Bible over this, I've bought both but probably didn't need to.

Sample files a great help!
Very useful to have lying around as a reference and the sample files are a great help. Would've liked more explanation of how to use formulas nested together whereas this explains how each formula can work independently, but I guess that's what Google is for!

Handy but not exciting
Hard to make a book on Excel formulae exciting I know but this does seem a bit dry. Still, even though most of what lies within is findable on the interweb sometimes it's handy to have them in a book. This is that book.
