I've been using Valerian Root daily for about 3 years. I've had all forms, from extract to it ground up to be made into a beverage or consumed, as well as pill form.Of all that I've had, and I believe it's been roughly 8 varieties which were strictly Valerian and multiple ones which had it as a key ingredient, this one, for the most part, had an extremely small effect on me.The effect was so small, I ended up foregoing the dropper one night and just having what i presume to be half the bottle to see what would happen. Well, not much!After I stopped using this I switched to a different brand of sleep aid which had a functioning form of Valerian that was listed in a manner that made sense, to which I added some I have used for over a year. The result was better sleep night one, and then gradually getting back on track.Unfortunately, I may have had a defective 2 bottles. The coloring is roughly what is to be expected from Valerian Extract but the flavor, not so much.I have to give this just 1 star because I wouldn't take it for free.

I’ve used liquid valerian in the past and prefer it to capsules. The flavor and consistency seems on par with other products and I especially like that this contains no alcohol or sugar. It’s not sweet and that’s a good thing. A glass of water with the drops helps if you do not like the taste. For me the flavor doesn’t linger long in any case.For some strange reason the label contains no information as to the potency or daily value per serving - however, it seems to work as well as other valerian liquid supplements I’ve tried. I do think they should add that information to the label though.Despite that I still find this product to be good and effective - it’s immediately soothing to me - and I think the two bottles are a good value.

The smell is pretty strong but the flavor is appropriate while not off-putting (it's valerian, after all, I'd be concerned if it didn't smell or taste like valerian). I would recommend it to those seeking to have liquid extract for teas, tinctures, or mixing with whatever else you would like. The sky is the limit with a liquid, so if the flavor bothers you, just mix it in with something tasty. This extract comes in a dark brown glass bottle, which is ideal because it will not be degraded by ambient light as fast.

Of the many valerian species, only the carefully processed roots of the Valeriana officinalis have been widely studied.The supplement has been shown to slow the heart rate in some people and may cause certain abnormal rhythms. For this reason, you should be very cautious about taking valerian supplement if you have an abnormal heart rhythm.

I’ve used many brands of Valerian root, they all taste very medicinal just like this one. It’s tastes similar to goldenseal but not quite as bitter, don’t except it to be good tasting, Valerian doesn’t taste good. If you find it too awful, you can put it in capsules right before you take it. That said, it works just like it should, I didn’t find this to be lower potency then my other brands. I do like that this doesn’t have alcohol in it. I would buy this again, it calms me and helps me sleep. Recommend

I’ve just started an online herbology course and this is one of the items I needed for class. I’m thrilled to have found it here and the quality (and value had I had to pay full price) meets requirements. I do come back and update my reviews if anything changes or an item doesn’t work as expected. The scent is spot-on and exactly what I’d been led to expect (quite pungently yucky). I’m excited to see what remedies I’ll be formulating with Mugwort!
