Thomas wants to build the biggest and best snowman ever. Since he can't do it alone, he'll need a helping hand--or a paw. But little bears love to hibernate. How do you wake up a snoozing bear? By tickling it? Singing to it? Maybe making its favorite snack? How to Build a Snow Bear is a story about two siblings sharing a wondrous wintry day. Review: Wonderful, heartwarming book - This is a wonderful book with a great message about the bond between siblings. The illustrations are great and we love Pinder’s writing, including his use of onomatopoeia (huff puff whew, for example). My 15 month old son has been obsessed with this book for months and can go get it if you say “snow bear” or “huff puff whew.” Today we had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Pinder at the farmers’ market. He was so kind and we bought the other Bear book, which is also a gem! Review: Sweet and - Fun to read book that the kids love! The pictures are soft and sweet and had my kids drawing their own snowbears, cookie ears and all!

Cute Story
I always try to read a picture book without looking at the illustrations, then with the pictures. That way I feel I can judge the text and illustrations separately. In this case I found the text slighty confusing in a couple places: "Bears are tall and good at climbing...' is one example. The "bear" is quite short. Good at climbing is great. But tall doesn't work for me. All in all, it is a cute book, and the illustrations are very kid-oriented. I would recommend it.
