Is there some type of latch I'm missing to make the seat stay open? As soon as I sit in it the back falls down..

You'll need to push the seat back all the way forward toward the cushion, then you can set it how you want it.

Yes mine came with a lifetime warranty paper to register

Can we buy extra batteries for these?

Of course…I also did buy larger power banks, but I suggest you go after a good deal on a couple good usb port equipped 20,000 mAh power banks. I’m using some I like from FOCHEW purchased here on Amazon.
