Multi-platinum-selling singer, songwriter, and musician Sheryl Crow will release a new album, entitled Be Myself, on April 21st via Warner Bros. Records. Be Myself, her ninth studio album and the first album for the label is available for pre-order now. For this album, Crow worked again with producer, musician, and songwriter Jeff Trott, a long-time collaborator throughout her career. Trott co-wrote many of Crow's classic hits including "If It Makes You Happy" and "My Favorite Mistake." Crow says her main goal was "to investigate what made my early songs strike people as being authentic and original. So for the first time in my life, I made it a point to sit down and really listen to my old records. I'd drive my kids to school and play the old stuff as I came back home. That helped me remember what it felt like when I was just beginning as an artist. But it wasn't about repeating myself. It was about revisiting where I came from and seeing where that would take me now." Be Myself is like each of her preceding releases: thoughtful and candid. It's unlike them too, mainly in that it represents contradictory movement -- a look at the world today powered in part by a return to the energy that first lofted Crow and her music into the limelight. Review: YES!!! - This is an album for all of us long time fans who have been with Sheryl since the beginning. Now its time for new fans to experience what we have been loving all these years. Once of the best Pop/Rock artists who has cemented her music into history. Great songs that you can love forever. I've been a fan since day one! I have enjoyed every one of her albums, I thought her country album was one of her best in fact. But they have all been great albums in different ways. I love an artist who is not afraid to venture into different areas of their musical life. I also loved C'mon C'mon which Sheryl herself claims was not one of her favorites. To me, that album is a classic! Put your phone away, lets roller skate! What a great way to start the summer! Review: While I like Sheryl Crow - While I like Sheryl Crow, I'm not a person that buys her music. I listened to this on a plane ride and really enjoyed it. I have continued to enjoy it while listening at home. I like that her lyrics have some meaning and the music is catchy. Not quite as good as Sheryl in her prime, but good enough that I hope she keeps putting more music out.

While I like Sheryl Crow
While I like Sheryl Crow, I'm not a person that buys her music. I listened to this on a plane ride and really enjoyed it. I have continued to enjoy it while listening at home. I like that her lyrics have some meaning and the music is catchy. Not quite as good as Sheryl in her prime, but good enough that I hope she keeps putting more music out.

One of Sheryl Crow's Best
Loved the new album. One of Sheryl Crow's best. Especially the songs: Be Myself, Halfway There, and Roller Skate. I look forward to seeing her perform them in concert someday. The other selections are good also.

You can come back baby, Rock & Roll never forgets
After straying into 70's soul (100 Miles from Memphis) and Country (Feels Like Home) Sheryl Crow comes back to her musical roots and delivers her best work since The Globe Sessions. Sounding confident and fresh at the same time this album is a welcome return to form from one of the best artists to emerge in the 90's.

Welcome back, Sheryl!
Her talent is immense and I'll always follow her musical journey wherever she decides to take it, with each album having a feel of it's own, but to me, this is Sheryl Crow "Being Herself". The sound is back! What a wonderful album that's full of both heart and candy. Especially love "Strangers Again". Just a great song and great sound design! This is Sheryl Crow. Buy it now! You will not be disappointed! Welcome back, Sheryl!

Sheryl Crow rocks
This collection of songs takes me back to Sheryl’s first few albums (Sheryl Crow and The Globe Sessions). She tells a story within each song and you can feel the emotion. This is back to the rock and roll beats that I became a fan of when Sheryl’s “Tuesday Night Music Club” first hit the radio waves. It is my new favorite!

Diet Sheryl Crow, or God Bless This Mess.
Well, Sheryl Crow touted this new album as a return to her earlier 1990's work, but, you know, Sting just attempted to do that last year, and failed. Crow thinks, just like Sting, that she can toss us fans a holiday album, a memphis soul album, and a country album and just easily waltz back into rock and roll. Think again. Sure, she brings back Tchad Blake, but there's no Bill Bottrell. He's the man. "Be Myself" is Crow's first rock album in nearly a decade since 2008's "Detours". That album was a crowning achievement, but American audiences--those ficklest of the fickle--those here-today-forgotten-tomorrow listeners out there, they really didn't give it the appreciation it deserved like "Tuesday Night Music Club" and "Sheryl Crow". So I can easily see Crow's disappointment and retreat into other types of music, but she should have fought harder. She likes to pen songs about female empowerment, yet she back down when we, the fans, really needed her to rock and roll. Now she comes back apologetic-like with "Be Myself". Hah. Hardly. Yeah, yeah, sure, there are some tracks here that echo her earlier sound, but nothing to shake a stick at. In fact, I found "Be Myself" to be boring musically. Lyrically, there were some inspired moments, but musically, "Be Myself" is a wasteland of boring sounds. Mark my words: This is no "Tuesday Night Music Club", "Sheryl Crow" or "The Globe Sessions" or even "C'mon C'mon" or "Detours". This is easily her worst album. That being said, there are some redeeming songs her like the infectious "Roller Skate", "Strangers Again" and "Grow Up"--the three best songs on the entire album. There are some mid-range songs like "Be Myself", "Rest of Me" (with it's Scott Joplin, ragtime, "The Entertainer"-like keys), and "Woo Woo" (which sounds like a Prince tribute to me--I mean I could see him writing and performing such a song, and it even has a Prince-like sound to it). Then you have the throwaways like "Alone in the Dark", "Halfway There", "Long Way Back", "Love Will Save the Day" and "Heartbeat Away" which are all good and well, but didn't really leave much of an impression. "Be Myself" doesn't mean you have to be mediocre, Sheryl. I found nothing really inspiring to listen to here. It's just average, three star, phoned-in work. Come on, you know that it is. I listened to all of her albums in chronological order before sitting down to write this review, and I could hear it. This album isn't very good. Neither is "100 Miles From Memphis" and "Wildflower" and "Feels Like Home" are about the same as "Be Myself"--not her best work, not even close. Back to the drawing board. Get Bill Bottrell next time, he knows what to do and how to shape Crow's music. I will say this--at least Crow didn't sell out with "Be Myself" and try to go EDM on us. So many artists think that if they just go dance/electronic that their sales will be up. What I'd like to see, and I don't think Crow has really tried this, is a full-on rock hard album. She's a rock and roller with some alternative leanings. Well, where is that? Rock out. You've been around for over 20 years now, and you've got nothing to lose. Where's your "Life in the Fast Lane"? Where's your "Immigrant Song"? Where's your "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction"? You are classic rock and always have been, so let's hear it. Here's how "Be Myself" compares to Crow's previous works: 1993 Tuesday Night Music Club: Four Stars 1996 Sheryl Crow: Four and a Half Stars 1998 The Globe Sessions: Four Stars 2002 C'mon C'mon: Three and a Half Stars 2005 Wildflower: Three Stars 2008 Detours: Four and a Half Stars 2010 100 Miles From Memphis: Three Stars 2013 Feels Like Home: Three and a Half Stars 2017 Be Myself: Three Stars
