Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - the Original 1886 Classic (Reader's Library Classics) Review: Excellent - Loved it. Wonderful dive into the world of psychology, egos, relationships, and science fiction. I’ve been wanting to read this for a long time and was worried it would be difficult to understand. Some of the expressions are dated but also some are rather intelligent and interesting and sometimes funny. Review: Classic! - Had never read this classic. Very good but in a style and diction some modern readers will find hard—no text abbreviations or emojis for sure. And it is not so much a monster horror tale as a look in man’s sinfulness…

A Classic
This is a short story and I didn’t know what to expect as compared to all the movies I had seen. I enjoyed it but kept wondering where I would hear Dr. Jekyll’s side of the story. That came at the very last chapter. It is the movies that provide a more in-depth look into the characters. A quick read.

Who is in control.
When I began this book I did not expect it to be a 5 star, In fact I thought the beginning a little awkward. As everyone knows this story even if you haven't read it, you find it hard to believe that the characters can't see that Jekyll and Hyde are the same person. But the last 3rd of the book when you Read doctor Jekyll's papers, both the prose and the philosophical discourse are second to none. Mister Hyde lives within all of us, Hubris allows us to believe that we can let out that base and animalistic personality and control it.

The Two Faces of All Humanity
I did enjoy the book. Do we all not process and see when we face a mirror the two that we are. The witnesses to our change are often not on the horizontal plane but the vertical of our existence. God and Satan, witness our change for the good or to the bad, and it starts when we are alone with ourselves. Wonderful piece of literature.

A Timeless Classic That Still Thrills
After reading 88 pages and revisiting 43 key passages, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde remains as compelling and eerie as ever. The story’s exploration of duality and human nature is gripping, and the writing style keeps you engaged from start to finish. This edition from Reader's Library Classics is easy to navigate and preserves the charm of the original 1886 text. Perfect for both first-time readers and fans of classic literature, it’s a must-have for anyone who enjoys suspenseful and thought-provoking stories.

Read it today, it's only 90 pages
I've read many classics, but somehow never got around to reading this one. It's only 90 pages and I read it in two nights. Needless to say, the movies based on it add all sorts of new characters and plots because the story itself is very basic. It's certainly of a different tone than Stevenson's other famous novel, Treasure Island. If you haven't read this, do so. It is a classic for a reason

Quite thought provoking
mystery and sci-fi kinda come together here to create what I can only think of as a depiction of the boundaries of morality and desire

Das Buch wurde als Vorgabe für die Schule angeschafft. Es scheint spannend geschrieben zu sein, jedoch habe ich es selbst nicht gelesen.

overall a rather large book. the font and spacing were nicely done, there's more than enough room for annotations (if you're into that).

A good read that provides insights into 'morality', and what 'humanness' means.

Great story. The book is quite short but very intense. I loved the end, it was unexpected! It's always nice to read a classic, it's no wonder we still read it so long after it was written.
