A Weird Comparison That Makes Sense To Me
I purchased this product based on the recommendation of an artist on Instagram. I normally use Arches and was hopeful this could be a knockout contender to save me some coin. What keeps coming to mind is comparing Brawny paper towels to the Viva brand. If you’ve ever used either of these you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about here. Brawny is top of its game; it’s super strong, absorbent, and can withstand scrubbing. Brawny you go after when you need something to last to get the job done.Viva is at the top of its game too. It’s strong, absorbent, but really soft. Both Brawny and Viva do what they’re supposed to do, but one you can scrub your lawn furniture down with and the other you can use to wipe your kids nose.Stonehenge paper is good, truly, but the color tends to bleed, and it cannot hold up to scrubbing. That said, it makes for some beautiful wet on wet pieces and is nothing to ignore. For twenty bucks I recommend each artist at least play with it a little.

If you paint with a lot of water, layers, lifting I don't recommend this paper
I really wanted to like this paper, heard great things about it. Was hoping it would resemble painting on cotton paper but it does not. It is not thick enough for my liking and tears very easily . for example - taping down the edges, I've never had another paper peel and rip while carefully removing the tape, this does. If you paint with a lot of water, layers, lifting I don't recommend this paper at all. If your a beginner, this is probably fine.

Not great for layering or the least bit of lifting/scrubbing
This paper is not great for anything on which you need to spend a lot of time layering and lifting. it pills up VERY quicklyi do love it for swatching and first pass on an upcoming painting. it’s cotton and gives me a good idea of how colors will look and react

Great paper, horribly shipped/packaged
Performs similarly to Arches, I'd have given it a 4 or 5 instead but all of my packs were slightly dented on the bottom right and my works are intended for gallery display/sale, a little effort and it's hard to tell but incredibly poor quality packaging for an artist brand.

Don't buy it
This paper did not accept pigment smoothly and also really swelled up with very little water. Lifting did not work well either. My biggest complaint is the swelling, caused my paint to run where I didn't want it to and failed to keep it where I did. It did dry flat, but the damage was already done. I expected more of this paper, especially since it is in block form. I don't want to have to tape down paper that comes in a block....duh.

Colors are vibrant and lifts easily
The texture is somewhere between cold press and hot press with the best attributes of both. The color blending of cold press paper with the ability of painting fine details with hot. If you are used to glazing and applying many layers, I think it is possible but water control and a soft application will be important. Lifting and softening hard edges takes very little effort and if you have struggled with this with other papers this paper shines in that respect. If this paper is new to you my suggestion is to play with the first sheet, do some blending of color wet n wet and dry, let it dry and then add a glaze over top, find an area with hard edges and soften them. This paper has some great attributes that I think can be utilized in many different ways. I've used primarily Arches cold press for a long time as my go to paper, this paper is different but in a good way. With professional watercolor papers, the different attributes of the papers add to your tool box. I say give it a try and see if works for you, having just struggled through a painting of flowers (not my usual painting subject) this paper might be the right tool for me.

nice paper, but mine came damaged
it's nice paper for the price, especially since it's 100% cotton. it's got a pretty good texture to it. the description says it's glued along the two long sides, but mine came glued on all four, which I like. I also think the notebook style is cool, too - the cover opens up from the side to reveal the pages.however, my block came damaged. the corners were folded and bent, and one of them was even open. I highlighted the most damaged corner in the photo. it might not seem like a lot, but that's a place where water can pool and change the look of the painting. I'll probably have to cut that corner off. it's still useable, but I'm bummed that the corners are damaged.

... papers for my watercolor illustrations and this is my favorite! Affordable but great quality
I have tried at least 10 different papers for my watercolor illustrations and this is my favorite! Affordable but great quality, just the right amount of texture. Love it!

Mal empacado.

Beautiful paper to work on
I love this paper. Dries completely flat after using VERY wet washes. My only complaint is it is not well protected in transit so two corners were a dented from delivery. Not really acceptable for a high end watercolor paper company. Then after the first use the pad of paper detached from the stabilizer cardboard. Item was received on time as advertised.

Not the best of the cotton papers
I was hoping for a cheaper paper than Arches, that still performs. As a beginner, I've found the paper quality is critical for help in controlling water and pigment movement and absorption. Arches is forgiving, Stonehenge is not. I use it for practice with strokes and markings but I'm not skilled enough to do a successful composition using Stonehenge. A skilled artist may handle the paper with greater control.

Great paper
I bought identical paper block from amazon AU and it was fantastic, but this one was ordered from America and it arrived in a bit damaged condition.
