A useful cure for the busted E string
I usually prefer the Extra Slinky strings - I have a short span so bridging is difficult for me. Trouble is, the high E is an 8 gauge and I seem to snap them just by looking at them. So the cure? I buy a pack of 9s and use them instead of the 8s - makes such a difference. Winding strings can be such a chore, using 9s for 8s saves me heaps of time.
