DVD does not work!
The DVD does not play because it is the wrong region. I want either a refund or a copy that is the right region. Isn’t the US Region 1?

While the new packaging and booklet for the collector's edition is lovely (and I only ordered this version because I didn't want to wait for the stand alone version), the real selling point in this set is the new transfer of the film - as you might hope - is absolutely stunning. It really is the best this film has ever looked. The HDR/Dolby Vision grading provides a colour pallet which brings a new richness, depth, brightness and contrast which pop - but still remain realistic. There's very little crushing in the shadows and blacks look truly black. Grain is still present and in very few scenes does this become excessive - and certainly not out of kilter with any of the previous releases. I found myself noticing new textures and details in most scenes. As with the picture, the soundtrack is crisp and clear. This really is the definitive release of the film, and puts even the previous and already impressive BluRay release to shame! Bravo to all those involved because this breathes a whole new life in to one of the best werewolf movies ever made.

It definitely was remastered from original film, it shows in the feature and outtakes / deleted scenes. Unfortunately it shows how crude the non CGI makeup, prosthetics, effects were. An American Werewolf In London (John Landis) did the funnies & werewolf better TBH, same year in fact, but still fun. Spoiler Free, but if you don't know what it's about from the cover... The outstanding actors are Dee Wallace playing it just right, a truly arch Elizabeth Brooks stealing every scene she's in and an unrecognisable Robert Picardo JUST avoiding scene stealing. John Carradine was UNder directed - completely OTT and maybe he was as unhappy with the film as Patrick Macnee who phoned in his performance and only his final line was believable; I suspect he was speaking personally. Nowhere near as much fun as I remember from decades ago, but the outtakes & deleted scenes are worth it alone; especially Patrick Macnee's breakups. For anyone who hasn't seen it, it spawned a franchise of films which I have not and do not intend to watch. A satire a little like They Live (I bought both together for 2 for £30) but with werewolves unsurprisingly. Don't pay too much if you haven't seen it before, but worth seeing at least once. Joe Dante but not at his best TBH.
