It's just fun to see the bear rug laying on the counter. Don't feel the need to put the pot holder/trivet away. I bought the white bear, so it blends nicely. I thought the brown one would look more like local, but I'm pleased with the white.The UNDER side has details, too! Paws and tongue, too cute! (see photo) It's about twice the price of my other high quality silicone ones, so you have to want the fun aspect to pay the extra money. I am glad I bought it and it's very well made. Update* I ordered the brown bear, since I loved the white one. It could be my lighting, but the brown has a green tinge. So I'm kinda disappointed in the color brown. Wanted a brown bear since that's the color of the local bears. But I think I would rather have had a second white bear. I'll keep the brown one, as to returning it. But if you're undecided, go white. It's a bit more fun, cheerful and cute. (My white bear must have rested on a package and a pink color had stained a paw. I couldn't get it off. At least stains wouldn't show on the brown bear. So they're that. Wonder about tomato sauce? It wasn't what stained. But if any other foods could stain? Don't know.)

This works as both trivet and potholder so it is versatile in its uses. Easy to wash with dishes. It is cuter than the picture as it has feet on the bottom side and even the bear’s tongue. Fun and adorable details!

I already have three trivets at home, but I really *wanted* this one because it was so darn cute. — DESIGN — From a design perspective, it's top-notch ultra cute. It's for you or it's not. From a construction standpoint, I think the silicone is on the thin side. Thin enough where you can see light shine through in the middle section. While I'm sure it's durable, I have this fear it might rip at some point, and I'll update this review if that should ever happen. If Ototo were to update it, I would make the overall thing maybe 1mm thicker. One minor thing I wish it had was a hole to hang this on a shelf, but a bear with a hole in it's tail won't exactly look good, so this detail doesn't have to happen. — HEAT RESISTANCE — The packaging description only says "resistant to high temperatures," but does not give a specific temperature. That's a bit of a flag for me, so I'm only putting pots on top after it's been off the heat for a few minutes. Just in case. — SUMMARY — This trivet really gives me joy to look at and I enjoy using it. If you don't already have a trivet, this one adds some personality to your kitchen. Recommended.

The grizzly trivet is such a fun addition to my kitchen. He is very thin and takes up no space since he is so flat. I had purchased the cat trivet for a gift and I was a little disappointed that the bear didn’t stand up like the cat does. But I still like him and plan on keeping it. It’s best for a round 2 quart casserole dish—anything larger would overhang too much. I own quite a few Ototo products and love how they add fun to the kitchen. I also give a lot of them as gifts, so I would recommend their entire product line.
