Excellent quality and very generous size
After trying different grip pads, Mohawk is the only one I will buy again. Not only is the pad as thick as described, it is two sided - the rubber side can go down on my hard marble floor - or if layering carpet (which I have not), the soft side can go down. The pad is larger than described but is easy to mark (no wriggling) and cuts like a dream. Previous experience with Mohawk has shown me that it does not damage hardwood floors and certainly prevents carpets (and people) sliding. I have had no problems with vile smells or plastic residue left on floors. Extra hint - if you are laying down two or more smaller carpets you might find it more cost efficient to do the math and get one bigger carpet to cut down.

Great rug pads!
Wanted to increase the sound deadening of my rugs because the floors in my apartment building are eeky and creaky with every step, and I often hear the neighbors below. I had some cheap anti-slip pads from IKEA that weren’t really doing their job. These are a huge upgrade, not just in that the anti-slip is really good. First off, the sizes I ordered were true to size within an inch or so. I’ve definitely bought a “5 x 3” rug pad, but it ends up being “4.5 x 2.5” leaving you with a lot of overhang, not the case with these. They laid relatively flat after being unfolded and didn’t leave any wrinkles you could see or feel in the rugs. I saw some reviews complain about the smell. Yes, they smell a little “chemically” out of the box. But once set up and with a rug on top, there’s no noticeable smell. I only have the 1/4” version, and the cushion effect is really good, my stiffer rugs feel a lot more comfortable to walk on now. I don’t see any reason to get the thicker versions. Overall, very pleased!

Buy it!
Exactly the capet pad I was looking for - non-slip on the bottom side & cushy soft on the top side. Perfect. Good value for the price. Buy it!

Excellent Thick Resilient Under Rug Pad
This is the best rug pad I've ever purchased. Bottom is rubber and top is some mix of recycled felt and super "grabby" texture. I got the 8x10 for a new rug and it fulfilled my expectations and will protect both the rug and the flooring beneath, as well as keep the rug from slipping from position. It is a massive step up in quality from the common white waffle rug pads -- there is just no comparison. I knocked a point off for the smell (LOL), as it is pretty stinky of chemicals. Spread out without the rug on it, it dissapated fairly well in 24 hours, but was still there somewhat when I put the rug down. With the rug in place, I no longer smell it. I did have to trim the edges since my rug was somewhat less than 8x10, and it was a firm material to cut, but I just used my heavy duty scissors and made quick work of it. I do highly recommend this product -- even with a couple days of stinkiness!

ABSOLUTE PUTRID ODOR THAT IS SICKENING!
I don't usually write reviews, but as I believe this is a safety issue I felt it was my moral obligation to write it. I ordered several of these Mohawk Home Non-Slip Rug Pads during January and February of 2024. The odor is nauseating. I put them outside during the day to air them out but it didn't help at all. The disgusting smell began to increase throughout my house and I couldn't get the odor to go away. I woke up in the middle of the night and had to run into the bathroom feeling light-headed and nauseous. I reported this directly to Mohawk and I was told they recently had a "bad batch," and they believed the odor was most likely caused by contaminated dye that was added to the latex for color. The smell intensified, especially while my heat was on, so I had a service call with an HVAC/Duct company. He explained that the odor from the rug pads was blown throughout my house when the heat was on and then the return vent sucked up the air sending it back to my heating system which then circulated the horrific-smelling air throughout my entire house. He cleaned and deodorized the HVAC system which helped somewhat, but the smell lingers in my furniture, rugs, blankets, etc. I have been washing everything non-stop and have sprayed Febreze everywhere. I looked back through the Amazon reviews about these Mohawk rug pads and I have found many other people complaining about the dreadful stench, and this goes all the way back to 2020. So the reason given to me by Mohawk for the atrocious odor being caused by a "bad batch" that recently occurred is not only unacceptable but complete hogwash. I contacted the EPA as well as filed a complaint with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission about this issue. It is well known that VOCs, Volatile Organic Compounds, are found in many products, including rug pads, and can lead to poor indoor air quality causing numerous issues including respiratory symptoms. VOCs can be carcinogenic to human beings. I have been nauseated, dizzy, and cannot get this sickening odor out of my house. I have tried using strong mouthwash, chewing peppermint gum, and drinking peppermint tea but I cannot get that horrific smell out of my nose or respiratory tract that has come from these disgusting Mohawk rug pads. I am grateful to Amazon for refunding my money for the four Mohawk Home Non-Slip Rug Pads, but I am concerned that nothing was done to resolve the real issue, the safety issue of these rug pads. I recommended to Amazon that they take the rug pads off of their site immediately and I am hopeful that they will. I recontacted Mohawk yesterday, March 18, 2024, via email, sending them the Amazon reviews with odor issues as far back as 2020 and the response I got was, "This was from 2020 and these people might have some kind of "allergy" that make them more sensitive to certain things." They have swept the rug pad odor issue under the rug. No pun intended. I am extremely dissatisfied with Mohawk and will never purchase anything from the company again.

Perfect rug pad
Outstanding rug pad! I used the pad under a 9x12 carpet (purposely chose a larger size so I could put a runner right next to the larger rug). First, let me say that I managed to maneuver this huge rug pad by myself, just one short guy and a huge heavy rug pad! It wasn’t easy — because the thing actually does its job and grips to the floor, so moving it around was quite cumbersome— but it was at least possible with effort. Once I got it in place, I got my (Ruggable one-piece rug) on top of it pretty easily. I taped down the far edge of the carpet to the pad just to give it some stability while I dragged my sofa back into place on top of it. I fully expected that the whole system would shift while I moved the couch and I’d have to wrestle painfully to get it back into position, and then spend a long time taping the rest of the rug to the pad below to keep it from shifting. But no! — the Mohawk rug pad didn’t budge and it kept everything in place. I’m using the pad over wall to wall carpet and I have to say this is a brilliant rug pad for that setup. I was skeptical at first of the instructions of “felt side down (on the wall to wall carpet) and “rubber side up” (contacting the new area rug). But this rug pad is flawless for soft surface placement. I didn’t have to tape down any more of the rug past the initial one foot strip — it just doesn’t budge on the carpet beneath (the felt locks into fibers) and the rug on top doesn’t budge, being gripped by the rubber. I could not be more pleased. And btw, I didn’t notice an odor other than a faint whiff when I opened the package. I highly recommend this rug pad for any use but especially for over-carpet use.

Excellent! Solved my problem.
work great. I use them under my oriental rugs. A 34' long in the hallway, which required 3 sizes. to complete. I got the 1/2" which is so nice to walk on. The rug moves a little because the front door rubs on it. When my carpenter comes back, I will have him put a better threshold down and trim the door more square. We did add shims on the lower hinge, but it still drags. I like the ½" so much better than ⅜".

Well made, fits perfectly under 8x10 rug without cutting, but not very soft
Honestly, I am so confused by so many of the reviews on here. Based on all the reviews I read, my take away was that when I received this Mohawk rug pad, it would most likely be two things: 1) sized wrong and most likely have to be cut to size 2) make my area rug extremely padded and comfy. After receiving and using this product, both descriptions couldn't be more off for my example. Regarding the first issue, I didn't have that problem at all, the pad came folded in a large box, but was perfectly square and fit near identically to my 8x10 carpet. It was just a little shorter (maybe half an inch) on all sides, making it fit perfectly underneath and going the entire length of the rug without being seen along the edges. No one would know it is there. Absolutely no cutting was necessary. HOWEVER, the more important second issue and why I spent the extra money on this instead of the thinner foam pads I usually get was because of the claimed added comfort that this would give my area rug. I am by no means a novice to rugs, as we have hardwood and several rugs around our house, mostly 8x10 and 5x7, ranging from expensive all wool to shag and low pile rugs. This pad provided a "little" bit of extra comfort, but not much, and certainly not twice the price level of comfort. I sincerely doubt anyone would confuse this rug as being much more expensive as others have stated. The problem is that the pad is a very solid and rough compressed felt. I almost feel that it is wrong to call it padding, because that would insinuate that it is soft and has give, like a pillow or something else. This is not squishy felt you find in a craft store, but a thick almost denim like material. The bottom has a rubber grip to prevent it from sliding and to also not scratch up the floors. Construction is solid, but it is NOT soft, or as others have said: plush, heavenly, luxurious, etc. I honestly don't know what they are talking about, whether they have an older version that is softer, or if it is all just relative and we have a difference in opinion, but I can't see how anyone would use those adjectives with this pad. My thinking was that this would be similar to carpet padding underneath wall to wall carpet that truly ads comfort, albeit much thinner. Not so, this is nothing like the carpet padding material that they put underneath wall-to-wall carpeting. Some have claimed that this material falls apart, again, something I would expect on a true felt type material, but I couldn't imagine this falling apart under normal wear and use. You could easily drag furniture around on top of it without it ripping. I would say this ads a true 1/4" height to the carpet, but is hardly noticeable, and feels maybe 25% softer (if I'm being generous). It looks to be durable, I enjoy the no slip padding underneath, and was pleased that it was 100% perfectly sized and perfectly square. However, it wasn't very soft and only added minor comfort. For the price, it was okay, but not great. I deducted two stars solely because of the lack of perceived comfort. I understand that added comfort is a relative description, so others may obviously disagree. My wife and I both, however, came to the same conclusion. This product is being used on a 8x10 medium pile shag area rug. I have not tried this on our thick pile wool rug since the pile is so thick, I doubt you would feel this at all underneath (plus, that rug doesn't really need added plush). I will update this review if the pad scratches up the floor, moves around, or degrades over time. I am also holding out very slim hope that maybe it "puffs up" over time and becomes a little softer, but I sincerely doubt that will happen.
