I saw some good reviews but none that answered my questions. So here you go. I have 5 Nvidia Shields & while you can pair almost any device to it from controllers to remotes, it doesn't acknowledge anything as an actual remote unless it's an official Shield device. An OEM remote. My original remote doesn't work. So I was using a Fire Stick remote. As well as an Onn Google TV remote. I also was using a mini keyboard with track pad as a remote. So the question I had was "will the Shield recognize this as another random remote? Or will it recognize it as an official Shield remote?" and the answer is it absolutely recognized it as a Shield official remote. And even updated the remotes software. But this is important, when pairing a device you can pair a random Bluetooth device, or you can add a shield accessory. It would not pair when I tried to add a shield accessory. I almost gave up. Then I decided to see what it would do pairing it like all other devices. And that did the trick & once it was paired, the Shield recognized it as official. The remote basically looks the same. But it's plastic instead of metal. It doesn't light up. And it's thicker. It's half the price as an official OEM one so you can't really complain. I don't know the longevity of this thing but it definitely works exactly like the original one.

This product looked promising at first, but unfortunately, it didn’t hold up well. After just a couple of months of light use, it began to fall apart. The build quality feels noticeably cheaper compared to the OEM version. Pairing was also more difficult than expected, and overall functionality was inconsistent. It may be a budget-friendly option, but in this case, the trade-off in durability and performance wasn't worth it.

This remote was very easy to set up, it took less than 30 seconds to be off and operational. A couple things of note: 1) no lighted buttons 2) buttons are loud (they make a loud clicky sound from the spring loaded buttons) 3) doesn't have the premium "feel" of the original. It's much lighter than the original. I was also able to test the microphone, which worked without issue. For the price point, it's a fair deal.

UPDATE: 60 days into owning and the remote has died. Not the batteries, they work in other devices and even tried brand new batteries. The remote simply is dead and now passed the return window ORIGINAL REVIEW: The 3rd party version is better in every way. The buttons have rubber coating for ease of use and have a bit of tension so a button press feels like it. The rubber provides a nice feel and grip. The battery compartment cover is only 3/4 of the back and does not slip off easily. Every time the original drops the batteries come flying out. The new version stays closed. Easy to sync! Simply hold the main center button down for a few seconds and your Shield will recognize and ask if you want to sync. So much better in every way. I’m a 3 year Nbidia Shield Pro user.

I've paired this with a few android devices, and it works pretty well. Updated like an official Nvidia remote when I paired it to the shield. IR blaster works just like the original, beeps when using the find the remote function. Only difference so far is that the buttons are rubbery, and they don't glow. Have not tried the mic function.
