This filter does a really good job with removing the taste of chlorine from the water. I like that it saves on waste since the part you discard is smaller and seems like it could be biodegradable. At first, it was hard to get the outside casing into the Brita filter that we use, but after it was in it worked well. When I was ready to change the filter, there was no way that casing was coming out as it seems to be super-wedged in there for life. But I was able to just open it and change the filter which was actually pretty easy. So as long as we never need to take that casing back out of the Brita container I guess we are good to go. I would recommend this. I think the price is pretty good, I like the idea of being more green, and its pretty easy maintenance once the casing gets in for the first time. Oh, and I really like that you don't have to soak the filter before using. You just have to run the water through for the first cycle and throw out the water (like you would for any filter).

Really genius. Easy enough to replace, the only hard part is pulling the old filter out of the casement, in my case it expanded with the minerals it collected from the well water I use. The new filter slips right in. Really, the genius in the filter is that it is not encased in plastic - like the Britta filter, and can be safely thrown into a compost pile and returned to the soil! Clear genius lives up to its name. I am so impressed with this product. I only wish the pitcher was made of Pyrex instead of plastic, I'd gladly pay the additional price. One note of interest is that is cleans the water to almost the purity of distilled water. I use it in my electric water heater and it has virtually cleared all the calcium sediment buildup in the bottom of the unit. I think that is an amazing feat for simple filtered water. Not to mention the unbelievably delicious taste the filtered water delivers. Thank you.

I love this product because the only thing that's being changed is the filter itself. After the initial purchase that includes the filter and holder, it's nice to know that additional plastic isn't being sent into waste. The one problem is getting the old filter out of the holder - despite there being a "flap" on top of the filter, I still had to pound the filter upside-down on a hard surface to dislodge the filter. It's not a fault of the product - just a fact. It requires a little bit of effort but it's worth it. And, yes, the filter works as advertised and leaves clean-tasting water. Highly recommended.

We started ordering these when our local store stopped carrying them. I absolutely love the filter they go with - the water tastes great, and guests often ask us what water we have. :) The filters are easy to replace, and the mesh filter bag means no waste of plastic every other month. Great product!

Somewhat difficult to change; requires a set of needle nose pliers to get it out of the case once it's swelled up and worn out, but gave really good tasting water. I ended up going a different route because of the difficulty getting these replacement filters.

I value keeping plastic out of environment and, while I appreciated filtered water, I felt terrible about throwing away the filter cartridges. I investigated several options. When I discovered these, I was very hopeful they would solve my concerns. After ordering my first one and finding that it was terrific, I ordered a set of replacement filters for the main unit. The product does what it says it will do and is reasonably priced--much appreciated on that count too!

I love these refills and I love that I can get them in a box that lets me keep if full for about a year! Such an amazing deal, no plastic to clog landfills with! (in fact, the pods can be used as fertilizer and I believe they are compostable) Love this product, only wish I knew of it sooner - would have saved a small ton of plastic waste and cost me less as well! (and if Clear Genius ever wants to come out with a Kishu type product for water bottles, I'm in!) * This is probably obvious, but just in case, you need to buy the set with the plastic holder first. It goes into the Brita as tight as you can get it (it's not meant to come back out). Once the holder is in there, the lid for the holder screws on and off to replace with refill pods. If the pod is still damp, it might be a little difficult to pull out of the casing. I use a set of pliers that I think are meant for fishbones or something like that and it works.

I have been using the Clear Genius filter pods for at least two years and have been very happy with them. They cost less than Britta and Pur, and remove the same contaminates. Also, less plastic waste, because the pods are inserted into a reusable cartridge.

Water tastes great. I feel good knowing I'm only making compost. I pull old filter out and drop new one in. Occasionally I use pliers to get old filter out or let it dry & shrink for a day. Very easy. Haven't tried but says it fits Brita pitchers also. I have a Pur brand.

I've been using a Brita filter for many years, and those cartridges are expensive and don't last very long. Not to mention are also environmentally irresponsible. These pods last many times longer than the Brita ones do, but they are difficult to pull out of the cartridge they go in, and that cartridge is also difficult to get out of the Brita jug. But it works better. Biggest downfall? It takes almost twice as long for water to filter, so you'll need to fill it strategically.

I was testing this product as I can longer buy the packets of charcoal to refill my holder. It worked better than I anticipated.
