Very cool and interesting pedal.
Very cool pedal. A little pricy. Great effects. It's a complicated pedal from the perspective of what all changes what to make up the sounds. But there are forums online as well as the Electro Harmonix website that tell you how to come up with various settings for the wide range of sounds its capable of emulating. The Pog2 gives you the added feature of being able to set up to 8 different "presets" to your liking. If you want your guitar to sound like John Lord's organ or emulate some of the more recent Joe Satriani effects found in his recent songs, this is the pedal for you.

Excellent and Unique tool
I don't typically use a lot of pedals as I have a modeling amp and depend on that for most of my effects. But this is a highly unique tool that you're not really going to find anywhere else. I really get a kick out of watching people's reaction when they try to figure out where the Hammond B3 is being hidden. It really confused folks over Christmas when I plugged my acoustic guitar into it and played "O Come All Ye Faithful" through it. They must have thought they were in a Cathedral. There are actually some other uses for this than just the organ. You can get a reverse guitar sound, or mandolin, and several others but you have to learn how to tweak the controls...but it's really quite versatile. I'm sure I've barely tapped into the potential here. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is there are a few artifacts that you can hear just due to the nature of the differences between a fretboard and a keyboard. I'm not sure that could ever be truly addressed digitally, but the vast majority of your audience is not likely to hear it like you will. You can overcome most, if not all of it with technique..particularly if you finger pick.Overall, I'd say it's a very handy tool depending on what type of music you play. My band plays a fairly wide range of material, so I'm finding a fair amount of applications for it. Your mileage may vary.

This pedal is awesome! My typical use for it is running the bottom three strings from my acoustic through a split piezo to generate the sub octave bass for finger style playing. This pedal can do way more, and it does it all well. Worth it!

turns a good guitar rig into a pipe organ
This box, like most products from EHX, is fantastic, and generates octaves electronically rather than digitally, so it sounds amazing. If you're more into the straight-ahead guitar tone, this might not be for you. It requires some creativity to work the sounds into an earnest composition. If you always wanted your own pipe organ, then you will love it.

Sounds great, but as with all things EHX it is ...
This brand-new pedal came broken right out of the box. It would short out while dialing in the effect causing a massive pop to go through my system. It would then need to be unplugged before it would regain any functionally. Sounds great, but as with all things EHX it is horribly unreliable. After the small fortune I spent on this I will not be purchasing any EHX products in the future.EHX did fix it for me but I had to pay $25 for a bench fee and then $12 S&H.

The emporer has no clothes
After the reviews I read, I decided I probably couldn't live without the POG-2. Not so. I used it during a test run in a band rehearsal last night and concluded (for my purposes) its not worth the money. The other fellows all agreed. The organ sounds are really, really cool, but that's where the story ends for me. Most applications are too unigue for a working band, especially considering the $325 price tag. And the most popular preset sounds, including the suggestions shared on the EHX website, still have the hint of the organ sounds. The tiny preset lights are hard to read from a standing position in less than optimum stage light, and the long "one-way cycling direction" through the column of tiny red indicator lights is inefficient/too slow for real time changes. There's a bit of noise that comes with some settings. Honestly, if this device was only the cost-equivalent of my Boss pedals ($80-$100?), I would probably not bother sending it back. But for this price, it really needs to pay its own way. If I'm ever a project guy who does nothing but experiment with sounds and processors, this would be a cool thing to have . . Naah, not at this price. Okay, the construction: Yes, its a metal box, and I was happy to see "Made in NYC" on the bottom of the red face plate. But the construction on mine is crappy. The sliders feel very good, but the white pre-set knob feels as cheap as a Yugo turn signal. The outside metal case has extrememly poor finishing, with manufacturer white paint defects and ripples along the seam between the box and the red plate. The AC power plug insert, although intended to be perfectly square and aligned, is not. Guys, I'm sorry to disagree -- maybe others found promising use in their unit. I simply did not. In summary, the single biggest killer for me on this deal has to be the price point, compared to the construction quality and true usefulness when working. I love Amazon, and rarely return anytihing. But they make it easy to experience these products without risk. They instantly e-mailed my return bar code, and I'm re-boxed & ready for UPS today. With their ease of return, you could easily give it a try. But for my money, its not a great value.
