Wonderful skeleton, great detail and loads of fun to put together. A very good buy!
This skeleton is just about the best thing you can buy, and the price is reasonable for the quality you get. I'll talk about the assembly, the details and the intended use of this product. The assembly was super easy, all the bones come numbered in such a way that is inconspicuous when the item is assembled. The product has a single solid bar of aluminum that anchors the vertebrae, skull and pelvis. The parts fit together so nicely that you can easily tell if you slid a bone on backward. There are four bags of bones that correspond to four major parts of the skeletal assembly, just slide the bones on in ascending or descending numerical order! I was able to pit this thing together in about 15 minutes and it was fun to see how all the bones fit together to create the skeleton. The detail of the product is spectacular, some people call it "museum quality"; close enough -but I wouldn't exactly say that. The details of the bones and the color scheme chosen makes it look incredibly realistic, almost as though you own an authentic baby rex skeleton! When the whole thing is assembled and viewed from a step back, you cannot see the plastic mold seams -giving credibility to the realism. Upon closer inspection you can see that the surface of the bones are textured plastic with a seam here or there, but once again, this item does not come off as a toy at first sight, you'd think this was part of a miniature exhibit. The obvious intention of this item is for educational and of course, entertaining purposes. The skeleton can be easily disassembled and re-assembled numerous times, allowing students or amateur paleontologists to really get a feel for the architecture of the skeleton, and how each bone plays its part. There are a handful of small bones that could possibly be swallowed by an infant, namely a few neck vertebrae, but for the most part the bones are large enough to handle easily, sections of the end of the tail are pre-formed vertebrae to insure the least amount of small parts necessary. This product is perfect for the ages listed in the description, and the fact that the whole skeleton "rests" on its base rather than "fits" onto it, allows for the handler to simply pick up the skeleton and handle it, then set the toes into their pre-forms in the rock base (which is hollow plastic, but very sturdy) -just keep it out of reach of bumping or nudging it, because the entire skeleton will just flop right off of its base, its heavy enough to possibly do minor damage to other objects, so just keep it in an area where the only time you touch it, is when you intend to handle it. The entire skeleton is very sturdy when assembled, especially if the end-cap bones such as the tail or the skull are fitted tightly onto the aluminum frame, keeping the vertebrae and ribs secured. Honestly if I were a high school teacher or something, this skeleton is perfect for educating students about dinosaurs, especially T. rex. I keep this thing on my glass coffee table, it appears close to model-detail-quality and fits perfectly among other artifacts and models I collect. I highly recommend this!

Large and in charge!
This is a phenomenal display piece—a very detailed, quite large (three feet long and a bit under two feet high) model of the Tyrannosaurus Rex's skeleton. Any dinosaur fan should have this on display SOMEWHERE in their house... along with the Brachiosaurus skeleton produced by the same company, of course. Putting it together was fairly easy, too. All the parts are discretely numbered (in places unseen when the product is assembled) and the construction is simple enough that all you really need is the diagram included in the box, which shows the completed skeleton with individually-numbered bones. Assemble the legs, assemble the pelvis, slide all the spine and rib stuff in, stick the tail and head in, connect legs, connect arms to those little holes in the ribcage, and... stick this sucker on his display stand! The stand doesn't even really snap into the feet, either. The skeleton balances perfectly on the stand when fully assembled, just keep in mind that it's not SECURED to the stand when you try to move it around. The only difficulty I had, and I'm not sure this was a problem with the product in general or if I just was unlucky enough to have a piece that was slightly "off" in engineering, but one side of the pelvis really did not want to be inserted into the midsection. I had to lean my full weight onto the piece to get it to go in. In it did go, though, and I'm very satisfied with the completed model. Worth mentioning: you can probably disassemble most of the model if you really need to for some reason, but that pelvis is not coming apart once it's put together. Anyway... my inner dino nut is squealing in delight right now. Very cool!

Quality model, realistic looking, and fun.
What a terrific project to occupy the grandchildren during sleepovers. This T-Rex comes in a nice cardboard box, with 51 pieces, display stand, and instructions. The pieces are a heavy duty plastic, numbered on each piece and identified with the pictured assembly instuctions. It can be a bit of a challenge to put together but nothing terribly complicated. It says it is for children 8 years old and older and I'd have to agree that. My assistance was only needed a couple times, to get them started as it has to be put together in a specific order on a metal rod, and the other to help identify a piece. No biggy. Once assembled it can be placed in the provided display stand and I was pleasantly surprised at how realistic this looked as well as the size of it. The model doesn't lock in to the stand and can be knocked over easily so if anyone plans on keeping it together and on display, certainly place it somewhere there is no real risk of bumping into it. I was relieved at the quality of this model and it would make a fantastic gift for kids of all ages. I highly recommend and would purchase again. I hope this helps and in the attached pics I used a AA battery for reference.

Amazing Model !!!!!!!!!!!!
Recently my family and I went to the London History Museum to see the dinosaur display (which was incredible!). We went to the gift shop and there was a fantastic skeleton model of a T-Rex - only problem was, it cost £400.00 (that's about $645.00 US dollars!!!!). When I got home, I started to research possible alternatives to the London History Museum rip-off and eventually discovered this model... Well, what can I say??? This model is EVEN BETTER! It's larger - wayyyyyy larger! And, as mentioned in other feedback, it is genuine museum-quality! The entire skeleton (ribcage, tail, legs, feet, skull) are incredibly detailed and coloured to look like ancient bone. It was easy to put together (about 15 minutes) and the final result??? A model that looks incredibly professional. I wouldn't describe this as a toy (to be played with by a little child)I have it in my office at home and it looks AMAZING! Whenever friends come over, everyone comments on it and ask where I got it from. I love the fact that it stands, (perfectly balanced)on its own. It's feet sit within some moulded footprints on the stand. I agree with an earlier comment about the colour of the stand (same colour as the skeleton itself) and I will be painting it (probably dark green so it looks like forest floor)and that way, the detail of its feet will sound out more (right now it kind of merges with the stand). I highly recommend this model - you won't be disappointed! David

T-Rex Petting Zoo
Shortly after viewing the latest Jurassic Park dinosaur extravaganza, this item suddenly made sense for a home décor item. Assembly is straightforward as long as the assembly numbers for each part are kept facing the same direction. A stout metal spine and large assembly poster is included. A few pieces, in this case the forearms were challenging to attach. Several of the holes for the metal pin sets used for some vertebrae parts required a little reaming to allow fit. A glue gun adhesive in several areas keeps the entire chain of parts together well. For example the skull attachment to the metal spine and the last piece for the tail also attached to the metal spine. Finally the assembly components for the legs to the metal spine. The completed item while not museum archival quality looks primal. The model balances well in the base. The material used to produce individual parts is tough. Here T-Rex, T-Rex T-Rex... nice dinosaur.

Amazing gift for dinosaur lovers, young or old
I bought this model using my wife's account. I'm a 40-something fan of dinosaurs, and have built a small collection of skeleton models. I have to say that I am absolutely delighted with this model. It's much, much more realistic than the standard wooden 3D puzzles, and that it's a fairly accurate model of the T. rex skeletons in the major museums. This particular piece reminds me a lot of the famous "Sue" skeleton in the Field Museum in Chicago. So far, the only obvious flaw I've noticed is that the neck ribs are a little thick, and there's something very subtly not quite right about the skull, but otherwise it's really an excellent skeleton. That said, though, I was very, very impressed with the level of detail in this skeleton kit - it really looks almost exactly like one of those ultra-expensive museum scale reproductions, but comes at a fraction of the price. It has an aluminum rod running through the backbone, which allows it to be posed a little bit. I curved the backbone a little to make it look a little more natural (instead of a straight backbone). The order arrived a day earlier than the expected delivery date, and it took less than 30 minutes to put the entire model together. That was great since I'd had a hard day at work, and I really enjoyed relaxing a little while I put it together.. The skeleton is strikingly well-balanced and stands upright on its own two feet, but the included "stone" base makes it a lot more stable. The only thing that disappoints me at all about this product is the color - it's a sort of "coffee with cream" color, which isn't ugly but is a little light for real fossilized Cretaceous bones. I dusted the skeleton with black spray paint to darken it a little, and hit the base with a little gray paint to increase the contrast between "stone" and "bone". It came out a little blotchy and I'm going to re-do it more carefully sometime, but it still looks great and is incredibly realistic. I'm a university professor, and I have this skeleton on display on top of a bookcase in my office. It has been a great conversation piece, and the students seem to really latch onto it. Bottom line: If you know a dinosaur buff (young or old) and want to make his/her day, this skeleton kit would make an amazing gift. The quality is nothing short of excellent for the price, and it is totally above and beyond the wood kits out there (I own most of the wood models, too). I only wish Elenco would do a simiilarly high-quality Triceratops skeleton (my other favorite dino) to keep my T-rex company!

Sweet Dino Delights
I was looking for something to fill out my apartment, something that oozed manliness but that my girlfriend would still tolerate. Then I happened across this baby. If you're someone like me who played with loads of Legos and Transformers as a kid, you can pretty much snap this together in under 10 minutes. If it takes you longer than 30, you pretty much fail as a human being. With practise, I imagine I could get my dino assembly time under 5 minutes and then enter the regional dino assembly championships. For the price, the model is super-high quality. He has a metal spine that all the vertebrae slide sensually onto. Once you slot him onto his little rock he's perfectly stable. The finish of the bones is also great - originally I was gonna spray-paint him shiny black but he looks so badass that I decided just to leave him as-is. The only negative I have is that the base looks a bit ugly compared to the awesome majesty of the skelington. I would prefer a mahogany base, emblazoned with a simple brass plaque bearing the dinosaur's name, or alternately, a mound of blood-soaked human skulls. Anyway, awesome stuff Elenco! I would totally recommend this for any classroom, man cave, or love nest.

Very Cool Model For The Price
You can spend hundreds for these types of dinosaur models, or you can spend around $50 for Elenco's model. It looks impressive off in a corner. People wil look at it and think all kinds of flattering things about you. However if you have it displayed on a special table in the middle of your living room people may take you for a tool. It's easy and fun to put together. I was surprised at how well made it is. It's also an inexpensive and great gift for the "right" people. Kids will love it. People curious about the sciences will love it. I'm not sure whether pro bowlers, venture capitalists, or politicians would go for it, but who knows. The only complaint I have about it (and it's a very minor complaint) is that when you're not around people will mess with it. It stands delicately on its two legs and will easily fall apart when touched. But that's not a problem as the parts are sturdy and go back together in seconds. So don't get upset when you see it in pieces every now and then (and that WILL happen).
