Best Loser Wins: Why Normal Thinking Never Wins the Trading Game - written by a high-stake day trader

This book is one of the best books I've ever read about trading and psychology. I bought it recently and have read it twice. I really like the authors down to earth style and have learnt a lot. I had no idea how much the mind and how you think about trading plays such an important part in it. You can know everything about technical analysis and fundamental analysis and have a proven strategy but that doesn't guarantee success. You must have the right mindset as well. If you can master your psychology, then you stand a much better chance of success. Without that, it's likely that you won't be able to trade consistently and be profitable. This book is a real gem, I highly recommended it. The other book I would also highly recommend is Trading In The Zone by Mark Douglas

Good advice about trading mindset and how to think differently from most people. Lots of techniques in the book that I have started to put in place to improve my trading.

Brilliant book. I don't agree 100% with some of the stuff (mostly the very few technical things in the book. Which are subjective depending on person anyway) but in terms of working on mindset around trading this has made a huge difference to me and helped me start to remove some bad habits and a big part of being able to do this was understanding the psychology behind it. Why I was thinking and acting in certain ways. Would recommend to any trader. Especially if you aren't Consistent despite trying many different systems. This could change the game for you!

Great book written by a great trader!

Very readable book that I finished in a couple of sessions. Hougaard is brutally honest about his own trades, and indeed about his life. Did I learn anything new? No, I didn't. Truth is, there's not much new to learn once you've read a few trading books. Most people know what they should be doing. Actually doing it, when you've got money on the line is something else.

Very well detailed book and how to shift your mindset in trading. If you are at a stumbling block and find yourself fighting mentally with the market, give this a read and take notes. I have recommended this book to a number of trader friends who all agree and it was also suggest to myself, to which I am grateful. A MUST HAVE if a trader.

Not even finished it yet but k ow it’s 5 stars. The things I’ve been able to take away from this apply to my trading are unreal. Makes you have a real look in the mirror and also accept risk and losses are part of trading. Would give 6 stars if I could, awesome book

My favourite ever book. The knowledge that Trader Tom presents in this book is next level. He covers all the layers of trading psychology and gives many different strategies and ways to achieve professional trader status. If you want to get in to day-trading or any sort of stock related business. This is more then a must.

Tom Hougaards book is a must-have for the trader that feels hen is currently in "no mans land" on their trading journey towards profitability, or for the experienced trader that wants to take it to the next level. This is not a book filled with bs chart indicators, patterns and all the other technical analysis information that every other trading book is offering. Briefly speaking: This book is about what "The Ideal Trading Mindset" looks like and is all about, and how we as traders need to really dig in deeper into ourselves to find the issues that keeps us from being the true traders that we know we are - and how to solve these issues. Simply put: It's about how to develop the psychology needed to operate as a high stake day trader on a consistent basis - like a professional. It's a book that will be read many times over. Worth every single penny. I can recommend this book whole-heartedly and want to thank Tom Hougaard for his wisdom, and his time to write this book.

I have been following Tom Hougaard for a long time, and I was excited when he announced the launch of this book. There is an 8-part YouTube video series of Tom where he speaks at a broker's conference about developing a trading mindset. This book is 70% a transcript of that video series with almost the same examples with more background about Toms's initial trading journey, and how he went on to become a high-stakes trader. This book starts with the journey of Tom, how he got into the world of trading, the initial struggles he faced when he went out to trade on his own, and how he blew up his account in less than two years. He later goes on to work at a brokerage firm where he discovers why >90% of traders lose money in a fair game like trading. This book is a MUST-HAVE for all those who are "serious" about the finance world. I cannot recommend it enough. Tom will go down in history for sharing such invaluable psychological insights which hardly anyone talks about. It's just strategies & short-cuts that sell everywhere. This book is a real gem!

Captivating! I usually struggle to finish books I read, but found this a breeze to read. Will finish it soon and plan to go through it again slowly. Tom backs up all his recommendations for trading with hard core experience. He is not shy to share his failures along with his successes in a very practical and realistic way. I have watched many videos, sat through lectures and read a number of books. Tom discusses all of what I learned from those and turns them around into a couple of fundamental points to practice for successful day trading. No BS, just truth. Love the book and would recommend to anyone serious about day trading, have worked hard at it but have not gotten far. Thank you, Tom for sharing your knowledge.
