Most succulents are sold with their botanical names making it difficult to get information on their care. This book has many features to find the common name and care of the plants.

The description states this book includes “How to cultivate cacti and succulents, their natural habitats, care, handling, propagation, repotting, common pests and diseases, and more.” However, the “care, handling, propagation, repotting, common pests and diseases” sections are very minimal. I bought this book thinking it would help me learn how to better care for the cacti and succulent plants I have and possibly other cacti/succulents I’d like to acquire in the future. Instead, this book is more like a plant type/identification encyclopedia. The book states it includes”directory” and I think that’s a description of the book overall. Even then, it gives minimal information about each plant species. Think about it like learning surface level information for a ton of topics instead of in depth coverage of a few topics. This book is not great for beginners (like me) seeking to learn all the things needed to keep their plants alive. I’m considering keeping the book for the directory part, but it didn’t serve the reason I bought it. Most likely, I’m going to return it since I need to know how to care for my plants before I learn what other types of plants exist.
