One of the very best
As a fan of Arbequina olive oil, I’ve tried many brands, but Castillo de Canena stands out as one of the top contenders. This oil has quickly become one of my favorites, and it’s easily in my top 3 for Arbequina varieties. The taste of Castillo de Canena is rich and fruity, with a subtle but distinct hint of guava that adds a unique depth of flavor. The aroma is equally impressive—fresh, vibrant, and inviting, it enhances whatever dish you're preparing. I love drizzling it over a slice of warm bread or using it to elevate roasted potatoes. It’s the perfect finishing touch, adding just the right balance of richness and brightness without overwhelming the other flavors. What really sets this olive oil apart is its smooth, well-rounded finish. The fruity notes linger pleasantly, and the oil’s delicate yet distinctive character makes it versatile enough to pair with a variety of dishes. It also works wonderfully in dressings, marinades, or simply as a dip. Overall, Castillo de Canena Olive Oil is a standout in the world of Arbequina oils. Its exceptional flavor and aroma, especially the subtle guava undertones, make it a must-have in my kitchen. If you’re a fan of fruity, high-quality olive oils, this one is definitely worth trying.

Very high quality
This is the best olive oil I’ve ever tasted. Most American made ones taste ‘washed out.’ This one tastes authentic, just like the olive oil in Italy. A lot of people don’t like strong tasting olive oil but then it’s not olive oil. Please lower the price so I can get 10 of them :D

Incredible Spanish Olive Oil!
In Spain I remember traveling through mile after mile of beautiful olive groves. At a little shop in Granada, I tried samples of different olive oils, and one type stood out. It had an amazingly fresh fruity taste with hints of apple, almonds, and pepper, something I had not tasted before. This same variety of oil turned up at several dinners throughout Spain, paired with bread and included in the cooked food. I fell in love with Spanish olive oil, and after two weeks of eating it I could see an improvement in my health, especially my skin. I brought some olive oil home from Spain, but then could not find anything in local stores that compared to it. That is why I was so happy to find Castillo de Canena Family Reserve Arbequina Extra Virgin Olive Oil. It is authentic and has that incredible unique taste one can only find in a Spanish olive oil made from the Arbequina olive. It is delicious on a variety of foods and, of course, goes well with bread. I also find it is beneficial to have a spoonful every day for skin, hair, digestion, and overall health. You can tell this family-run business puts care and detail into every bottle. This is without question my favorite olive oil.

Good olive oil
I tried the olive oil but was disappointed because it’s not a bold one. It doesn’t taste peppery at all, but it’s a good product.

Good recommendation via "Extra Virginity"
A week or so ago, I heard an interview on NPR's "Splendid Table" program with Tom Mueller, author of "Extra Virginity" that convincingly suggested that "Castillo de Canena" Spanish olive oil was one of the few brands of the product that could be trusted to be high quality, authentic extra virgin olive oil. While I almost choked at the very high price asked by distributor La Tienda, I ordered a bottle. The oil arrived within a couple of days, heavily pillowed in bubble wrap, and we gave it a try immediately. I have to say that Castillo de Canena is pretty much everything that Mueller promised. The taste is very fine; fresh, herbal and peppery. It does provide the throat burn that confirms its therapeutic benefits. And it does add a boost to anything it's added to, including salads, soup or just bread. The problem, of course, is getting hooked on such quality at such an upscale price. So while I will be a fan of Castillo de Canena for the indefinite future, I will probably check out Tom Mueller's other recommended sources for extra virgin olive oil in hopes of finding something as good, but a little less pricey. The California labels might be a place to start. Meanwhile, this one is highly recommended.
