STANLEY Nail Setter, Steel, 3-Piece (58-230)

Solid quality for a good price. These are nice and heavy and the 3 sizes cover most needs.

I had originally purchased this same set about 25 years ago, and although they were still usable I decided to get a new set. The new set has the same great quality but with an improved grip surface for the holder.

I needed a strong set of nail setters since my last one broke. After searching on Home Depots website and Amazon, I stumbled on these. When they arrived I tried them on a few nails that needed to be set deeper in some stairs. These did not disappoint, they are strong and durable. I was surprised that they worked so well. After several blows with a hammer the paint has not chipped. This is a product that I highly recommend.

I used the smallest and second from smallest to sink in finishing nails on window trim and it worked perfectly. When you use the one that fits the nail head, there is no slipping off and dinging the trim. Much better than the method where you just use another blunted nail to sink.

Larger than expected

If I were going to buy nail setters for professional work, I would want the ones with larger more ergonomic handles, with a bright color that makes them easier to see if dropped on a job site. For doing work in a garage, or projects around the house that occasionally require a nail set or punch, this set is a great value. I've been using them every so often for the last 2 years or so, and I have no complaints considering it was ~$8 for a set of 3. The impact from hammer blows is properly transferred to the tip; you won't sting the hand holding the set. They are also made of good quality metal; one of them has been used fairly extensively, but the metal hasn't chipped or deformed at all.

I like this nail set very much. No fancy stuff, but work as expected. Very solid and sturdy.

First hit wth my hammer and it snapped in two. Threw the other two in bin. Severely disappointed, especially as I chose them by brand.

I have used all three of these for LOTS of projects and sometimes for the wrong purpose. These hold up. Very well made and I'm extremely please with the purchase.
