I saw a lot of negative reviews about this so I was scared to buy it at first. But now I am glad I did. I was able to retrieve a lot of old video footage with this. My adapter worked great, but if yours does end up eating a tape. I would maybe look up a video on how to retrieve the tape from the VHS adapter. You may have to take it apart. Maybe even do a test cassette to make sure it works properly before inserting your cassettes with priceless memories. Or just open and close it and make sure the arms in the adapter are functioning properly. The quality was good. Sound was a bit fuzzy but I feel like that is expected with old tapes.

With VHS tapes (and moreso the camcorder VHS-C tapes) arguably obsolete at the time of this review — 20+ years since their last hints of common presence — finding and having these are a LIFESAVER for revisiting taped memories of decades past. THEY'RE NOT AS PHYSICALLY ROBUST AS THEIR ORIGINALS, SO HANDLE THEM GENTLY! MORESO HANDLE YOUR PRIZED VHS-Cs JUST AS GENTLY, WHEN LOADING THEM! I'm continuing to cross my fingers that they continue to last as long as I need them.

I’ve had this for 4 years and it was only recently that it didn’t work. Prior to that, it worked absolutely flawlessly. I think that if you’re looking to convert your VHS tapes to digital, this is a really good option to just get them going. I had no issues with tape playback or anything of the sort, it was really easy to use and helped me to digitize my tapes to my computer.

This worked exactly as it should. I put a AA battery in, placed the tape in this cassette Nd it played beautifully. So excited to be able to watch the old movies. Great value for the money as it is well made and seems durable. No problems setting it up, super easy. The video quality was perfect. I have not had to change the battery and used it for a full weekend so far. Highly recommend

I was excited to watch and digitize my old VHS-C tapes, as I recently had some close childhood friends pass away and I wanted to relive some moments from the past. However, this adapter turned out to be a major disappointment. Despite trying multiple new AA batteries, it just wouldn’t engage and load the tape properly. The motor struggled and occasionally made noise but never fully adapted the tape for playback. I followed all instructions, and even tried it in different VCRs, but nothing helped. VCR would begin to play and then would just shut off. This happened on several VCR's. For something marketed as compatible with JVC and Panasonic, it didn’t deliver. Unfortunately, I’ll have to keep searching for a reliable solution to view my old tapes. Save your money and look elsewhere!

Worked fine viewing about 20 tapes. It worked just like the adapter that came with my camera 35 years ago!

was able to watch VHS-C’s that i hadn’t been able to watch in over a decade or two. it’s been a wonderful gift to my family!

I picked one these up to transfer over 70 VHS C tapes using a regular VHS VCR. It worked flawlessly. It requires a AA battery to work as it has to wind the tape to regular VHS size around the spool. With over 70 tapes completed, I never had to change the battery.
