If an Egyptian Cannot Speak English

I loved everything about this! There's the experimental style and especially the unexpected turns that leave you wondering. The characters are so complex and well-developed and I love that you don't get any obvious good guys or bad guys. As well, you feel like you are literally in Cairo, the way the setting is so vividly established. The entire book is seeping with poetry and just such a pleasure to read, you never want it to end.

Read it in 2 days while on vacation. Very easy read, great story. Complex, raw storytelling. The ending will leave you wanting more..

To say that this novel is multi-layered would be an understatement. The bridge between New York culture and the Cairo world is sharp edged, and the feeding of basic human traits is woven into the urban chaos. The book's third part left me a bit breathless.

I was excited to get this book and it did not disappoint. great read!

I bought it as a resale. It was in excellent condition. Is is an interesting book, but ai could not get I to it.
