Complicated with limitations
Wish I would have read all the reviews before I purchase. However that's time-consuming. The two most helpful reviews were buried within all the other glowing reviews that look like they were translated to English. That being said this clock is going to work for me with some compromises. 1) a couple people mentioned that the display is very bright even when set at the lowest setting. I think usually people who are trying to use extra help to wake up are also doing things to make their sleep environment clean, in other words no lighted displays to interfere with their sleep rhythms. I finally figured out that if I pressed and held light button on the left side for 2 seconds that all the lights would go off so that was Nice, except: BIG PROBLEM - - if you turn the time display off entirely, the clock **won't do the sunrise simulation** work around is going to have to be if someone else mentioned a sleep mask or something over the center of the display 2) it is touch buttons rather than press , which is nice, but if you want to turn on the light at night say to use the restroom or something, it is very difficult to find which button to push in your sleep induced Haze . Especially if you have the display covered. I finally solved this by taking a bit of nail polish and gluing a tiny little item to that light button so that I could feel it rather than inadvertently touching a bunch of other buttons and possibly resetting the entire thing. 3) complicated setup. The printed instructions are somewhat helpful but it is certainly not intuitive and it was time-consuming. 4) short cord limiting where it can be plugged in, but an extension cord fixes that. The key value on this item is the price point. If you are willing to work around these limitations for the price point it will probably work alright for you. Just go in with your eyes open that you will have to work around a few issues. Other than that it seems to work nicely and does have a very sleek appearance that doesn't clash with my bedroom decor. Shipping was fast and I know it will be useful for me during the winter months when I have to wake up before the sun actually Rises.

From 3 stars to 1 star
Overall pretty good! I feel very refreshed when i wake up! However.....two major flaws and one minor flaw that can be easily fixed.1) The cable is pretty short and is not long enough, meaning that placement is fairly limited to where the wall plugs are. (Due to the placement on mine, i cannot place it high enough to be seen while asleep :/ )2) The instructions aren't very clear. Sure it gives some nice info regarding the product and telling you what features are available when you plug the product into the wall and when you only run it with battery, but it doesn't say anything about how to set the alarm, change the time, sound and etc.3) The minor flaw is how the lowest setting night light is still very bright! But i just cover the bright portion with a sleeping mask or something similar to dim it down.Improvements to make this product a 5 stars!1) Longer cable!2) Clear instructions on how to operate this product! (Took me an hour of fustration to figure things out, which is no good!) 3) Dimmer night light setting.4) Would be very nice if the sunrise simulation can work just on batteries alone (thinking of random blackouts and such)Overall, pretty satisfied with the product dispite its flaws, as it does work as advertised and is cheaper than a Phillips sunrise alarm

Could be better
My son likes it however there are many flaws with this product. Theres no way to adjust the light so that it comes on before or after 30 mins prior to alarm set. The light for the time display is too bright even at its lowest setting so the first few nights we simply turned the display off. However, by doing that, the light didn't come on in the morning. The different colors is only for switching on and off at night for a mood setting. However there's no way to have this light on a timer so that it automatically goes off. There's a limited number of sounds for an alarm. I wasn't a big fan of any. And finally, you have to switch the alarm button off in the morning to get the alarm to stop. However, this means of you forget to turn the alarm button back on at night, you'll be without an alarm the next morning. I'm used to there being a cancel button that stops the current alarm but still remains set for the next morning. My son likes it, so we kept it. But for this price, I expected so much more.

You get what you pay for
There's a reason why this light is so much cheaper than the Philips version. And in hindsight, I wish I had splurged on a higher quality light.First-as many people have already noted-the instructions are basically useless. I consider myself pretty tech-savvy and it still took me about 15 minutes to figure out the setup.Every time you push a button (to change a setting or alarm time), it beeps. This is super annoying if someone is sleeping while you're changing the alarm time. There isn't an option to turn off the audible alarm. But if you put it on the first setting you can't hear it.My biggest gripe is that the display is insanely bright. It's a major flaw, considering that I bought this alarm because I'm sensitive to light. I put black electrical tape over the display, which has been pretty effective. But every time I change the alarm time, I have to peel it off.Giving it three stars because I knew what I was getting into buying a cheap-o version. And at a basic level, it works.

If you have to get up before the sun and are not a morning person, this one is for you!
I wish this clock was simpler to set and that it had a dimmer setting for bedtime. I am not a morning person and the simulated sunrise helps me to get up, stay up, and be less grumpy about being up when it is still dark outside. I've also knocked it on the floor several times by accident and it still works perfectly.
