I *love* taiyaki. Love, love, LOVE IT. With a sweet red bean filling, it's something I always have to pick up whenever I'm at my local Asian megamart. It got a little more expensive on top of not being the cheapest thing in the world, and I haven't gone to that grocery store in quite a while, so it's been a long time since I've had any, but I *finally* found an easy recipe for the filling and a place to buy the beans locally! Taiyaki is surprisingly easy to make. All you really need is the taiyaki pan — and there are a ton on Amazon, some *quite* a bit more expensive than others — and a filling of your choice and you're off to the races! A pressure-cooker recipe made the filling ridiculously easy, and the batter for the taiyaki is really easy too. (As a tip, I'd suggest going with the slightly drier version of the recipe if you happen on the one I'm using that gives you a little range for the milk.) Finding the perfect temperature took a couple tries — for me it's somewhere around a 2-3 on my electric stovetop, and this *DOES* work on electric stovetops — and my perfect cooking temperature was about 2 minutes per side. Maybe 2:15 or so... Once I got the hang of it though, there's no stopping me. Taiyaki's something I'm going to share with friends and make regularly to always have a couple in the fridge. Since it's best served hot, I'll just pop it in my air fryer for a couple minutes to warm it up. If you're interested in making taiyaki at home and don't want to spend an unnecessary fortune on what's likely going to be an IDENTICAL pan, pick this one up! You won't regret it. 5/5, perfect pan makes perfect taiyaki which make me perfectly happy.

I followed instructions and enjoyed making the fish treats. Price was very reasonable and happy with purchase.

I bought a similar pan for double the price last year, and this one works just as well.

Works beautifully to make Taiyaki! I use mine on my gas stove on low. Butter one side and spread a thin layer of mochi batter. Once set I repeat on the other side. Once the second side is close to set I add filling and top with a little more batter around the edges to help seal it. Close and cook 2.5 minutes each side. Favorite fillings are oreo and fresh raspberry, biscotti with apricot jam, ham with jalapenos and cream cheese. Cleans easily with hot water and a rag or scrubber.
