05422 Cutty Sark Model Kit

Not a toy. Intermediate model building skill. Excellent detail. Almost 900 parts. Good instructions. Stable base. Using email, received extra parts right away, no questions asked on 3 separate occasions. 20 crew members. Magnifying lens very helpful when painting small parts. Super glue may work better on some parts.

long lead time

I'm 65 and the Cutty Sark model is the first model I built with my father when I was in my early teens. When I saw it on Amazon, I had to have it. I really figured after all these years, this would be a condensed or cut down version of what we built in the 70s. But much to my surprise, this is the same size and layout of the one we built. The only difference I saw, was the instructions now are in color and multiple languages. Note: this model is a level 5, but it has some of the rigging as molded plastic, but has the diagrams to use sting (included) to make the rigging realistic. The only problem I have, is a place to display it as it is a large model. Looking forward to completing this for the fun and to bring back the memories of my father getting me into a great hobby I have pursued all my life.

Right item and on time

I really like sailboats because they are usually the most difficult models to build. The model is very detailed and the assembly is very demanding. The pieces generally fit together quite well and the result looks very nice. Excellent model.

My package arrived early, pack well, the box a little crushed on one corner. I examined the contents and everything was in perfect condition. I truly am excited to build this siz scale Model. I built this one in my teenage years and it has always demanded my skill level today to improve. Can't wait for this build.

This is a level 5 model kit. The model has all of the details and rigging of the real ship. This kit is for more advanced builders because of all the small and detailed parts. Plus all the painting that has to be done to it. The model when finished is 33.5 inches long and stands from the bottom of the keel to the top of the main mast is 22.3 inches tall. This is a large model. Since I am 73 years old, and have been building these type of models for a long time and enjoy building these models.

This model builds to almost a metre long and half a metre high. It is ONLY suitable for experienced modellers. It requires infinite care and patience coupled with an ability to repair accidental breakages. The degree of detail is excellent The real difficulties arise when fitting sails and rigging. This is best done where possible in advance of fitting to the masts .If any parts are lost or broken, replacements are obtainable from Revell free of charge. This is a beautiful model for those who know how to approach such complexity. Needs well developed organisational ability and dexterity. Be prepared to take your time - LOADS of time! (Check out the eye-watering cost of display cases first)

Il modello è molto dettagliato. Solo un po' troppe sbavature di plastica da togliere pazientemente: forse lo stampo è vecchio. Lo sto utilizzando per un esperimento di modello di plastica ma "ibrido": ho sostituito alcune parti verniciate con listelli di legno di noce e nastro adesivo di rame (materiali che si trovano su Amazon). Il risultato sembra buono. Proverò anche a "costruire" le sartie con bigotte di legno invece di quelle di plastica prestampate.

This is a really fun hobby project to do!! Takes a lot of skills and precision. Quality was amazing and product was delivered on time nearly at a great price!!!
