Would QUALILUX Dusk to Dawn light bulbs work in a canister type fixture? Yes, they would. QUALILUX Dusk to Dawn light bulbs has a built-in light sensor which is arranged with LED chips together. The angle it senses sunlight is wide as same as the light bulb emits light. But the light bulbs in canister fixture may light up earlier than using in other open light fixtures. Because canister light fixture will block out sunlight. Most of the light bulbs which has a sensing eye/hole on the body cannot use in the canister light fixture because such enclosed light fixture completely blocks the sensor to sense the sunlight. Review: Durable - Fine quality and very precise, it turns on and off as it should. Review: Work great, but be mindful of placement - I purchased these to use for our front and back porch lights, and overall, I am pretty happy with them! The only "issue" I've run into with them is on days when it is a bit overcast, the one I installed in the front porch light fixture will sometimes come on during the day. However, the globe that covers that bulb is a pretty heavily frosted glass globe from the 1930s, so this makes sense and I can't fault the bulb for that! The one on the back porch is in an open fixture, upside down in the center of our small back "porch" (it's really more of a landing/stoop at the top of a half set of stairs that leads to our back door, but I digress...) and that one has been working flawlessly, even on overcast days. Either way, these bulbs have been fulfilling their purpose and making life just a little easier because it's one less thing I have to think about/remember. I can feel safer knowing that our front and back of the house is lit up when it is dark, without having to make sure I've flipped the switch on for them every night and then off again every morning. I just flip the switches to on and let the sun (or lack thereof) guide them. Love it!
