If you love Korean/Japanese rice, this rice cooker perfectly cooks it. What a difference from my old rice cooker. Just beware, a big stack for instructions (3 languages). I still haven't figured out how to get it to speak English. Default is Korean. More pressing matter is cook rice. There is an option to keep rice warm and turbo cook it. It looks really beautiful, too. I bought the 3-cup version. The larger ones seem to be better value for your money.

The rice cooker I've been using started to burn the bottom of the rice, and I realized that I've had it for almost 25 years! So I thought I'd treat myself to a super nice cooker this time, and I found this on sale. Maybe it will last another 25 years! The Cuckoo is a bit cuckoo to setup. It's very complicated and weird, but worth the effort. I love the quality of rice it makes, whether it's long grain Thai basmati, or short grain Japanese style, it comes out delicious. I am using a water ratio of about 1.9x water to rice for most rice. Short grain brown rice also came out good with a bit more water added. I also tried the germinated brown rice recipe. I gotta say though, the texture and taste of that was not much different than regular brown rice cooking, so not worth the extra effort for me. I like short grain 'kokari' style japanese rice the best, but with this cooker I've liked all types I have tried. I've seen reviews saying that Cuckoo doesn't do as well with long grain rice, but I LOVE the long grain rice I've made in it even more than short grain. Even tho I'm not a big fan of brown rice, it's nearly as good as white in the Cuckoo so I will be eating more of it. I have even tried a wild rice blend, and that was excellent. I do tend to like stickier rice, probably more towards the Korean than Japanese style and the Cuckoo delivers. One of the reasons I got this cooker is the size, as a single person, I don't need a lot of rice. And I typically use a 1/4 cup of dried rice to make a single portion. This takes about 13 minutes on turbo mode or about 22 minutes on regular. So super quick and easy. I have also found that larger portions take only a bit more time. My experience with previous cookers is that doubling the size of the portion will usually double the time. Not with the Cuckoo, it only adds 10-25% of the time. I was really skeptical of the auto-clean feature, but it actually works extremely well. I clean out the bowl, wipe down the upper lid and run it, and the whole unit comes out very clean. I have made some recipes with a bit more ingredients and found that the insides do 'gum up' a bit more, and removing the top lid and cleaning it is essential. Running the auto-clean twice made it sparkling after that. My one irritation is that its hard to remove the top inner lid. It's really clamped down and I have to work hard to get it off. Could be a challenge for someone with arthritis or mobility issues. Sometimes I've had to use a pair of pliers. The voice guide is essential because it's so complicated. And I find the voice funny to hear. It talks so much and unnecessarily. It will announce it's going into sleep mode, for instance. Why would I need to know that? My only negatives for this cooker is the price, the size which is large for how small the portion of rice it makes, the weight, it's something like 12 lbs, so hard to move around. And the difficulty in removing the inner lid, that is irritating.

Perfect rice every time. Has a feature to talk to you in English or Korean. Durable, washable, removable pot for easy use and cleaning. Looks professional. smells great. Easy to use and kept rice warm at Perfect temperature for when ready to eat. High quality feel and can cook many different rice types perfectly.

I love this one —its luxurious color, elegant design, and incredible price. Thirteen years ago, I spent about $500 in my Cuckoo 6-cup rice cooker, which has served me well every day over the years, consistently making great rice for my family. Now that my children have left home, my husband and I want a smaller cooker for fresh, daily rice, so I picked for this 3-cup model. I have always believed in the value of Cuckoo, even at a higher price. The current model is available at an excellent price, especially considering that six years ago, a 3-cup Cuckoo for my kids was priced at $450. If you cook rice occasionally for friends and family, a 6-cup or larger model might be best. But for everyday use by one or two people, the 3-cup model is ideal. I took photos comparing my old 6-cup and the new 3-cup. While the exterior size of the 3-cup is slightly smaller, its inner pot is definitely more compact. I’ll keep my old 6-cup unit for holiday gatherings while enjoying my new 3-cup every day.

I am a Chinese, so having good rice is very important to me. This little powerful rice cooker cooks the best rice ever. I used the regular jasmine rice from Walmart and got a high quality (best quality probably) Japanese-like rice taste. Sticky and chewy and sweet!!

I decided to get serious about my rice and the choice came down to two brands. I went with Cuckoo because it's south Korean and built extremely well, has the thickened non-stick metal pot, and covers all my bases for features. I use it all the time and totally love it. Induction design is the way to go if you're going to spend serious money on a rice cooker.

Why the 3 stars? First, it's a very nice, very well build rice cooker. It is the Cadillac or Lexus of rice cooker. No complaints here. Build quality and esthetics are top notch. So why the 3 stars? It is much slower than my previous pressure cooker. In 8 minutes, your standard white rice is ready. It takes twice as long with this Cuckoo. My older (albeit broken, inferior and 4 times cheaper) rice cooker is sorely missed.
