It taste terrible!

I recently tried a few flavors from this brand, and it's been a mixed bag. Let’s start with the chocolate flavor. It’s hands down one of the most aggressively unpleasant things I’ve ever had to choke down. If my dog had to imagine what chocolate tastes like, this would be her best guess. It’s a flavor that feels like it was born from Kirkland-brand dog food, fish antibiotics and regret. I’m still trying to finish the other half, and it’s a struggle. On the flip side, the vanilla flavor was a pleasant surprise. It’s extremely sweet but super tasty. The texture across the board is pretty much what you'd expect from a ready-to-drink protein shake: smooth, slightly thick, and easy to drink. Either way, you can’t argue with 40 grams of protein, zero fat, and zero carbs. That's kind of hard to beat, especially when you're chasing gains without compromising your macros. I'm sticking with 5 stars because I was warned about the chocolate and didn't listen. I blame myself...

Is flavor the absolute best? No. But look at the ingredients list and nutritional facts. If you’re buying it for what it offers just go ahead, is not that bad. I’m a female struggling to get 120g of protein down and this drinks and David Protein bars help me so much. I have very mild stomach issues when I drink it but I have the same or worse with whey protein and protein yogurts. I haven’t noticed any weird smell.

I thought I would try this protein shake for the chance to kick start my mornings with a very low carb shake with no fat or sugar. Well turns out that a little of those things might be helpful as the taste of this drink is pretty awful. When I first opened the lid, I expected a chocolate smell or something maybe that reminded me of chocolate or even a light hint of chocolate. Well, I was blown away with the smell from the cap that smelled of nothing like chocolate. I can almost describe it as a hint of rotting meat or dead animal smell. It was not pleasant and nothing like beef broth even. I replaced the cap and shook the drink vigorously to mix it up. I gained the courage to take another sniff and while the foul smell dissipated slightly it didn't change over to something I could imagine trying. I mustered up the courage to try a sip. The nose is responsible for quite a lot of the flavor we get when eating. In this case, I held my nose and took a sip as I needed to know if it would taste any better than it smelled. It did not. There was definitely a hint of chocolate in the bottom and I knew I had mixed it well, but the chocolate did little to cover up what my nose had already told me. I did end up opening a couple more just to be sure that it was not a single bottle with the issue and it was not. I could not get past the smell and these found their way into the sink drain. Not sure how anyone can cover that up and consume these despite the nutritional values.

Good product has a little bit of an odd taste.

I drink a protein shake in the morning or whenever I wake up. I've tried 5-6 different ones. I prefer the chocolate flavor cause to me it tastes like chocalate milk. I'm carnivore and this protein drink works for me. MuscleMed = 0 fat, 0 gluten, 2 carbs, 0 sugar, 40 gr protein. A winner.
