I recently have been in a bit of a buying spree when it comes to automotive tools. Mostly due to me being a novice. But I've been debating the difference between Milwaukee, Dewalt and some of Harbor freight brands. And I gotta say I almost caved in for Hercules, although I might return for them someday. This tool made a good first impression, I used it for one time and simply exchanged it for a stronger model with more torque. It is lightweight, easy to handle and it doesn't feel brittle. I am rather ignorant about Dewalts sub lines, like the atomic series compact nature as well as the XR series which tends to mean "extra power". I suggest you pick it up for $170 maybe a bit more. But the torque that it delivers is great for the money you're spending. But overtime depending on what application you use it for. I don't think it's meant to take on heavy machinery. Just standard civilian vehicles and bolts you can find in commercial sites.

I've had this impact gun for a while, and have put it through some things! I'm a professional mechanic, this is my go-to for higher demand needs, from removing wheels to caliper bridges and suspension parts. With 800 ft/lbs breakaway torque, there isn't much this thing can't do. You can select between 4 torque settings so you don't over tighten fasteners. I generally leave it on level 2, that's strong enough for most jobs without strips bolts out. The downside to that is, the lower torque setting is also a slower speed. So there's sometimes lower torque is handy, but low speed is a big drawback. I also like the belt clip it comes with. I can hang it on the side of my tool cart so it doesn't take up space on top. Or it's really handy to have it hanging on your belt or pocket to grab easily when putting European wheels back on that don't have wheel studs to hold the wheel in place before tightening it down. As far as competition, this impact bare tool costs less than the other big brand, and has more power. Overall, love this gun. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a quality impact gun.

I needed something strong and reliable for work that also didn’t break the bank, I’m a tire tech so I needed something that could fit in smaller spaces but also have high torque. This thing is a beast, everything from 7/8th lugs to little 17mm this thing handles em no problem. When paired with the 20v 5ah battery this thing is a beast and still has 2 bars of battery after a 9 hour shift of constantly taking lugs on and off. The smart mode as I call it is perfect for working on expensive rims as it stops the gun as soon as the lug breaks loose then u have to press the trigger again for it to fully come off, definitely helps with run off on expensive rims. Mode 1 tightens to 100ft/p. I’ve tested it with a torque wrench after and it works perfectly. Mode one is nice for putting on tires as it won’t overtighten them no matter how long you hold the trigger. If your someone who uses 1 or 2 different sockets the pin is the way to go but as a tech who can use 10 different sockets a day the hog ring was the way to go for me as it makes switching out the sockets super easy. If you need a strong impact that will handle almost anything you throw at it this thing is the way to go, pair it up with the 20v 5ah and ur set for almost anything that’s under 1000ft/p.

It's usually too much torque for most applications. It takes off lug nuts with ease and can uggadugga almost any bolt you need. I like the feature that makes it stop when taking off the bolt after it lets go or stops if you're putting it on and it hit resistance first time. Great tool.
