Pencil perfection has been achieved!!! I have always loved the BIC Velocity pencils because they are incredibly smooth to write with. The leads are a special formula which is strong and wonderfully smooth. They make a nice dark line. I have them in 0.7 and in 0.9 and both are awesome to write with. But I have a special fondness for the 0.9 Velocity pencils because I tend to press hard when I write, and this lead can handle it. This thick smooth lead is especially nice for writing in crossword, word search, or other puzzle magazines because thin or hard lead often rips the paper, and doesn't always show up well. This lead is a puzzle doers dream come true! I would have thought that the Velocity pencils couldn't get any better, but then....along comes this little gem! Not only is it all the wonderful things I already described, but it goes beyond with it's amazingly squishy and comfortable to hold grip! And the eraser! It's way bigger than on the other Velocity pencils, plus it erases like a dream! Smoothly and cleanly removing all traces of the lead without tearing or roughing up the paper. With its super size, it will last a long time, but you don't need to worry when it does run out because a handy tube with extra leads and erasers is included with each 2-pack of pencils. In addition to all those important features, it's also just a very nice-looking pencil. The colors it comes in are pretty and the upper half of the pencil is clear so you can see thru to the colored lead tube inside. If pocket clips are important to you, you'll love the strong clear clip these pencils have. Can you tell I just love this pencil!? The Velocity Max is the BEST friggin pencil in the universe EVER. I LOVE THEM. My artist callus nub takes allot of abuse and is usually in a blistered state of mangledness... these pencils allow me to keep doing my thing so the Tales of my Cousin tiktok series can keep going.

I’m in Florida, write a ton of lists, notes, and kid homework help, and I grabbed the BIC Velocity Max 0.7mm 2-count pack because I’m heavy-handed and tired of lead snapping every five minutes. I’ve been using both pencils from the pack for about 6 months now, so this isn’t first-day hype. I paid my own money for these after a coupon ran out. For a 2-pack that comes with extra lead and erasers, the value feels solid. You’re not paying “fancy pen” prices, and you get refills right in the tube so you’re not running out mid grocery list. I’d call it fair value for money. Not dirt cheap, not overpriced. What I actually like: Grip doesn’t kill my hand. The soft gel grip is chunky and kinda squishy. I can take notes through a whole PTA meeting or help my kid with math worksheets and my fingers don’t cramp. That’s the main reason I keep reaching for it. Lead breaks way less than other cheap mechanicals. I press hard. With old pencils I’d snap lead constantly. With these, it happens but it’s rare. The #2 lead is dark enough for scantrons and standardized tests too. Eraser actually erases. Not like those rock-hard nubs that smear. The one on top is big and white, and the pack includes 5 extra erasers. It cleans up mistakes without shredding my paper. No sharpening, ever. Sounds dumb, but not hunting for a sharpener while I’m mid-thought saves me. Plus the pencil doesn’t shrink like a wooden one. Colors help me keep track. Mine came purple and green. Blue is popular too. I keep one in the kitchen for lists, one in my bag. Easy. Where it’s not perfect: Lead can still break. A few people say it breaks no matter what, and one review said leads broke off in the chamber and they went through two in a few days. Hasn’t been my experience, but if you’re Hulk-smashing the page, YMMV. Eraser quality seems batch-dependent. Most say it erases clean. But I’ve seen complaints that it smears and the white eraser turns black. Mine’s been fine, but it’s not a premium artist eraser. Real-world ways I use it: Daily to-do lists on the fridge, budgeting in a notebook, crosswords when the power flickers here in Florida storms, and my daughter steals it for sketching because the grip is comfy and the eraser doesn’t tear her paper. It’s #2 lead so it works for tests, and I’ve taken it to work meetings because the grip keeps my hand from getting tired. Bottom line: It’s a workhorse pencil, not a luxury item. If you want comfy long writing sessions, decent eraser, and fewer broken leads without spending much, it’s a good pick. If you need 0.5mm or zero lead breaks ever, look elsewhere.

All pencils in our home have become replaced with these magic pencils. They are comfortable for my arthritic hands, and my children love them. The lead does NOT snap like with other mechanical pencils, the eraser works amazingly well and is big and fat so lasts a long time. My only complaint is getting the eraser out once used. Take it out before it gets to the plastic otherwise it's impossible to grab.
