KNIPEX Tools 86 04 100 Pliers Wrench XS, 4", Silver

I had the three plier set in my wish list for over a year. I didn't want to spend that kind of money but I was fascinated by the high rating. I love tools and really appreciate when a company thinks outside the box for a clever design and then follows it up with high quality materials and manufacturing. I finally pulled the trigger on the set and then purchased this one days after when the price dropped by $10. This plier is incredibly small and crazy expensive for something so small. BUT ... I like having the whole set and this is a REALLY convenient, portable size. You easily keep this tool in any pocket for use in a million small jobs. I cleaned out my tool box, removing most of my pliers, channel locks and adjustable wrenches because these tools do all three jobs - better. The biggest difference with this design is that when it "locks" into place with that cam mechanism the handles don't want to separate like they do with channel locks under load. It's a really good design. Also, the jaws remain parallel at all times, which is sweet. Finally, there are no teeth to damage the hardware. Are these worth $50? Not unless you must have them and are willing to pay the premium because there is no alternative for this design. I was hesitant to blow more than half of my tool budget for that pay period on four pliers but I'm really glad that I did. The few times that I've used these so far I was very pleased with them.

Better than expected! I keep these in my pocket daily! I am in the commercial HVAC business and these are truly a life saver. Have used them so much and called them my “handy dandy’s” enough that my coworkers now refer to all knipex as such LOL! Great tool and highly recommend!

These pliers are really nice, but I returned them because I couldn't justify the cost for such a small tool. But if you need something like this, then these are the ones to get.

I was worried that the smaller size might make these a tool I only reach for in niche circumstances. I've never been more wrong. I love these things. I look for reasons to use them, go out of my way to use them. I have a little above average size hands but these still work just fine in them. The smooth jaws are great for not marring surfaces I use on them. I love that I can just slip them in my pocket and forget that they're in there so I usually just keep them on my at all times. These things have insane strength behind them, I can grip things suuuper tightly to the point I have to be careful not to dent whatever I'm holding with them if I squeeze too tightly. and I'm not worried about hurting the jaws on them because Knipex steel is crazy tough, whatever magic they use to make their tools is working for them. The price may seem steep for such a small tool but I wouldn't hesitate to buy these again, in fact I'll probably buy a spare at some point (incase I misplace them, I can't imagine them breaking). I truly feel like this is a tool that I'll be able to pass down to my kids and them to theirs.

When you get them, you’ll use them CONSTANTLY. I have both these and the 10” version. Each gets used constantly. Yes, you can turn nuts and bolts, they come in very handy for quick things where you don’t want to figure out what size socket. (Like tools adjustment bolts, etc) They also allow access where you can’t slip a ratchet and socket, but you don’t need a bunch of sizes of wrench. But they’re also great for work-holding and delicate work, with those smooth jaws. Only complaint is that they’re a bit pricey. Yes, size does not equal price due to engineering, manufacturing costs and economies of scale, but it’s still a gulp to swallow!

This is a five-star product that is to small for my paw. My fault for having large paws. I wouldn't even call them large. But, I don't have quite the dexterity to manuever these guys. The 6" are handy for me. I kinda get a palm-grip....if you need little perfect!

E' davvero piccola ma è fatta benissimo! E' costruita con una precisione impressionante! Le due ganasce combaciano perfettamente, non passa un capello fra le due! Il sistema di regolazione dell'apertura è preciso, semplicissimo da usare e soprattutto sicuro! Anche il sistema di chiusura delle due ganasce è ben costruito, nonostante sia piccola, anche grazie agli ottimi materiali con cui è costruita, ha una presa fortissima! Le ganasce sono lisce quindi non lasciano segni di denti sulle superfici trattate, è utilissima in lavori di precisione dove serve delicatezza ma allo stesso tempo una presa sicura e forte. Knipex questa volta si è superata! Il costo...beh è elevato ma parliamo di un utensile professionale che non ha eguali, per lo meno io non sono riuscito a trovarne uno identico o che avesse le stesse caratteristiche.

I’m a plumber, these are fantastic. I have swapped all my adjustable wrenches for them. The sheer amount of force that you can use is amazing. Even on a rounded fitting these will work.
